While this is a reasonable explanation ... there is still no excuse for only gaining 17 rushing yards in the 2nd half

That's a great strategy until you fall down by 20+ points before the half. Then you need to score, and score quick. That's when the pound and ground running game strategy gets tossed out the window.

Agree. Also throw some other things into the mix. A limited RG3 (for whatever reason) has an effect on the entire running game. Starting drives often well inside the 20 also doesn't help since it puts you in a more defensive mindset.

Improvements in any of these areas (which is very possible) will have a positive effect on the running game & obviously on the team overall.

Interesting stat for everyone down on Haslett and the defense : The Redskins have given up 98 points this season. Last year through three games they had given up 101.

Lions game was the only one we were still in it at half. I agree, we should have used Morris much more in that game as well as Helu. I think he had only one touch last week and went for a big gain.

I hope you are right and I agree. Establish the run to set up the pass. RG3 needs to be a mix in that run attack, if only a few times.
