I don't believe schools with history/tradition are going to fall for gimmicks. Nike or not. Their name sells the product not nike. Nike needs Bama more than Bama needs them.

I'd be fine with Adidas if it meant no jersey change!

The black jerseys are nothing special.

Just Bama players not bothering to have them cleaned.

That's a bammers jersey, that jersey will not be worn by real Bama fans or the players, unless the players are injured and they wear that representing no contact.

it's not that big of a deal to me. If a large percentage of the team says they would like to do something like that (and they will pretty much everywhere) then suck it up and let them have their fun. They win ballgames so you can go to your neighbors and brag that "your" team won on Saturday, so let them brag about some fugly uniform they like. I don't think i'm in agreement that they should all be throwing around uni combos like grains of rice at a wedding, like Oregon, but damn let them have their fun for a game or two every year.

Remember when you told me I didn't see these @ Nike.....

What I said was Alabama would never wear them. And they won't be wearing those either, they aren't even legal jerseys.

Nike can make up all the fan shit they want. If they sell, good for them, but don't count on many sales. Just the mere mention of these jerseys has in 1 day caused a shit storm among Alabama fans. And someone inside UA was asked about them and basically said - we don't have a clue what this blackout shit is about.

Fan bullshit != actual jerseys.

That's just it. I agree with a lot of the Blue Blood program fans that are not doing this type of change.

Not saying Bama will go Oregon on their unis for lords sake.

But an alternate every other year is going to happen. I have seen it on the Nike Campus with my own eyes.

It is a different day and age. And I completely understand the old school thought process from the Bamas, Texas, USC, of the world. But it will happen to every team. At least one a year.

Jersey sales are so huge, just like Star Wars, money is too big to not make more shitty movies. The drones will go to the movie, and this case they will eat the shit outta these jerseys once the players wear them.

They tried that crap with USC once already!! Trojans everywhere lost their ever lovin' minds and darn near burned down the phone lines and website complaining!!

Certain schools have a timeless uniform that should never be messed with!! 'Bama and USC are among them!!

You aren't an Alabama fan, it's not your concern.

And since you keep trying to get on people about the "we", "your" and "us" crap, let me clue you in on somethings. No, we aren't on the field playing. However, "we" are the ones that support the teams by buying tickets, by buying team gear, by donating money to the program, and all those other things. So it is "us" and "we" that wins these games and makes Alabama what it is.

And of course, that's not just an Alabama thing, it's a thing for all teams. Especially among the teams that are most popular and most successful.

It's nothing but anal jealously that makes someone try and look down on the fans of other teams because they refer to things as "we", "your" and "us".

:agree: 100%!! At USC, it is said that whether you are a student, alum, faculty member, support staff or simply a fan, if you support USC, you are a Trojan!! I'm certain that it's the same at Alabama and many other programs as well!!

Can it happen? Anything's possible but I'll believe it when I see it. They are selling these for a blackout game yet to be scheduled for the fans. The team will not be wearing them. From CBS sports:

"Uh, whoa," you say, processing the thought of Alabama -- a bastion of week-in, week-out uniform uniformity -- wearing all-black jerseys. "Whoa."

But you shouldn't worry; for starters, black numbers on a black jersey would make the numerals impossible to read -- and a violation of NCAA rules (as well as all common sense). For another, the school has told student newspaper the Crimson White that it's "working on getting the text corrected" on the site listing.

So for now, don't expect Alabama to go the blackout route (on the field, at least). But feel free to expect the rumor mill to keep spinning for a while.
