Alabama practically ran for a first down on every run play, AJ had 10 seconds to throw the ball if he wanted it. Defense looked average? Sure. How many dominant defenses do we even have in college fb right now?

I was talking specifically about their defense. The running game and offense was pretty damn good. Just saying its not the same D we've come to expect from bama and they're not as complete as they have been.

The defense is the same as the offense, rebuilding this year, so yeah we gave up lots of yards. Sadly this is a once in a lifetime type of QB with a penchant for luck that will one day run out. He is good, but he can be defeated, we just proved it.

I agree. My argument in a different thread a long time ago was that every defensive scheme has its weaknesses and bamas is no different. For bama it is speedy offenses that work you to death in the open field. Some seem to think that isn't true though and are so blinded by homerism that they think bamas D is infallible. They are incorrect.

Not to get into this, but this is what is always said about any other conference when there is a shootout. I guess now that it's and SEC affair it's now a "slug fest".

It took like 7 years for Alex Smith to be good. Most QBs aren't getting 4 years these days due to contract changes. Saying someone is Alex Smith Jr is saying they'll bust

Didn't look too terribly different than top tier Big 12 South games from the Bradford/McCoy days. Except Bama has the depth that no one else can match at this point

When every game is a shootout(in some conferences) and the defenses are ranked as some of the worst in the NCAA, this argument is supported. Bama is rebuilding on that side big time and offensively we have some room for growth too. All in all, 2-0 is not bad at this stage playing two FBS teams away from our homefield.
