yeah, thats a tough tough break. Gotta hope none of the other forwards get hurt, or it will be a repeat of previous years' 1-line teams with no secondary scoring. Sounds like adding kennedy may be a big move and Hertl is gunna play a big time role. They are also likely gunna need someone else to step into a much bigger role like nieto or hamilton. This is a real good year to be a rookie forward since basically 2 of them will be getting in and at least one if not both will get top nine looks.

Let the wooster shuttle begin...

p.s.: with all the injuries maybe dougie can go shopping from the bargain bin. Brad Boyes? Simon gagne? For 1M or less for each, it might be worth a shot. They really need some help and they have 7M sitting on IR, so the space should easily be there. I really dont want to see them go the safe route with guys like kearns or mccarthy just eating up space and hoping that jumbo, patty, burns, cooch, and pavelski will be all the scoring.

Sharks currently have 49 pro contracts out of the 50 limit. It's doubtful they'll use the last spot on a discount injury replacement when they finally have prospects capable of filling those temporary holes.

Wilson was just on KNBR. Summary of the interview:

A Torres replacement will most likely come from with in the organization. He will look at other options outside the organization if no one steps up in the role. Didn't really specify if it would come via trade or an FA signing. Sounded like he'd look to make a trade but that was just my take.

He believes Havlat is close to a return.

Team is committed to keeping three scoring lines and focused on a game based around speed which was the purpose of last years "Reset" and the addition of Kennedy in the offseason.

We will have to wait and see.

Yep, that's about all we can do. I think it will be Hamilton who gets the first crack at Torres' spot. He's a little better three zone player than Nieto and has had a full year at the AHL level compared to Nieto's 10 or so games. It will be interesting to see who they put with Couture and Marleau tomorrow if they are in the line up.

The line up the Sharks released lists 14 forwards. Sheppard not listed for tonights game and Kearns, McCarthy, Pelech added. Defensive pairings look like:

Irwin - Boyle
Hannan - Demers
Vlasic - Tennyson

Hertl the Turtle looks like the real deal. Skates well for a 19 year old, keeps his head up, high hockey IQ, isn't afraid to take the real estate at the front of the net.

He'll make the team. Nieto is also making a case of making the team, I think he'd be a solid replacement for Torres as he's out for 6 weeks.

The Thornton line looked really good. If that line sticks together they are going to be tough to match up against.

I thought Kennedy had a really good game but the 2nd line as a unit left a little to be desired.

Nieto, Wingels, Pavelski put on a forechecking clinic the first two periods. As much as I like Nieto I still think I'd prefer Kennedy on that line, though.

NIce to see 2 by Hertl granted it was against Lack, whos not a very good goalie. Still encouraging signs. Should be interesting to see this team with a complete line up, thats a nice depth problem

Also nice to see that a 19 year old that was pretty much garunteed a roster spot didn't rest on his past accomplishments and is proving he belongs

Especially when they get both Torres and Havlat back in the lineup. Top 9 is going to be very good.

He could easily be a #6 dman on a lot of teams. He's just too far down on the Sharks depth chart to stick with the big club.
