Redskins Vs Titans: Breaking Down Chris Johnson 58 Yard Touchdown - Hogs Haven

looks like thomas and Rak made bad plays early

rambo took a poor angle which he can learn from

Not sure any angle Rambo would have taken would have mattered. We are talking bout CJ remind you. Rak took a wide angle rush allowing the opening....his vintage move. Rak aint Reggie White. He doesn't have that type of strength that allows him not to be pushed further to the outside. He ahs to take the inside angle on most rushes. His percentage will go up and our blood pressure will go down.

All things considered... NOW is the time we want to see stuff like this. So it can be corrected. Rambo needs to have his share of bad plays, as does Thomas, Minnifield and Amerson. Preseason is the time for these guys to learn from their mistakes. So that in a month when the games count, hopefully we wont see them make these kinds of mistakes.

Open field tackles hard to make at any angle. Factor in Chris Johnson, nearly impossible. I don't have a big issue with what happened.

I do! Rambo should have closed sooner. Instead, he chose to pull up with space between him and CJ and you know who is always going to lose that battle. Anyway, the play was lost at the LOS. We seemed to over pursue all night. The Oregon Duck, I mean Chip Kelly ran offense is predicated on miss direction so the Skins better become more disciplined on defense quickly!

Just do YOUR damn job! :gaah:

Settle down guys. This is exactly what preseason is for. It was CJ2K in the open field not Lendale White.

Its not that Rambo didn't bring down Johnson that bothers me. Its he didn't even touch him. His form was so bad that a much lesser back could have also avoided his tackle. He took a bad angle, he didn't square up and he dropped his head. He is our projected FS. Our last line of defense. Who ever plays this position has to have better technique or we will see a lot of big runs this year. What ever you think about Doughty, he can tackle.

I agree the guys up front blew the play. I have no idea what Rak was doing or where the hell the ILB was. But our FS has to be able to at least hit the guy to slow him up so the pursuit has a chance to catch him. As I stated earlier, this was the knock on Rambo in college. Mediocre tackler at best.

After watching games this week I'd say the lack of practice and contact is why we saw such bad tackling, almost every game I saw teams look bad making tackles, this definitely has to.do with the new rules, it should look alot different by week 3 in the preseason

So question is, do the new practice rules have anything to do with the rash of season ending injuries we are seeing this year?? I cant remember a season where we have seen so many players done for the season before the preseason even started.

This exact sentiment has been talked about by all analyst and everyone basically comes to the same conclusion. Mort and Shefter were the latest to talk about the rash of injuries and they, along with coaches and inside personnel, believe this is a direct effect. Players are on the practice field less and in pads even less. With everything the coaches have to worry about, this just becomes another obstacle all teams have to overcome.

IN other words they are trying to stuff ten pounds of stuff into five pound bags and the bags are breaking. It takes a certain amount of time and preparation to be ready for a season. Hell even Pop Warner coaches know this. Its why hitting isnt allowed for a solid month after practice starts. You limit practice but still try and stuff in the same amount of work, injuries are bound to happen.

Great way of putting it. It'll be interesting to see if changes or amendments are eventually made with the way things have turned out. My guess is no, but hopefully the injury bug stays away from here.

Orakpo was aiming for a sack, while not even realizing the run was a counter. Meanwhile, Phillip Thomas was like a deer in headlights. Baccari Rambo didn't stand a chance with a one-on-one with Chris Johnson. I knew that, once I saw him Johnson running towards Rambo. In fact, when Orakpo missed Johnson a little passed the line of scrimmage, I knew it was over. Overall, I would say that Orakpo was mostly to blame for that play.
