How the heck do you spend over half your life trying to make it to the NFL, then just quit. $88K per year minimum, the chance to still sign onto a teams active roster... and your heart isnt in it?? :L

I know it sounds strange to us that would give anything to be able to play at that level, but some guys just don't love it. They do it because they're good at it, but they'd rather do something else.

Dude.. for a minimum of $88K, plenty of people would work jobs they dont like. Worst case he makes practice squad again (if he is eligible) Best case, he shows his ass in preseason and gets picked up by another team not so deep at RB and makes 1/2 million a year as a third stringer. Only thing worse than wasted talent is walking away from an opportunity.

Agreed, but guys that dont make this team will get picked up elsewhere. You have a SHOT to get a job that only a little over 2000 people per YEAR have, and you quit. Sorry dude... weak minded. You give it your all until you either make the team, or people stop calling.

His life in the end. Maybe he has opportunities outside of football. Different strokes for different folks.

Dude.. we live in America... its always about the money.

no it isnt shark

i could make a lot more money then i do

i work at most 1/2 the year . i could work the whole year but give up family time

i decided that was a worthy trade off

middle class american with lots of family time as opposed to upper middle class with less family time

isn't this the 2nd time he's done this? I believe Davis went AWOL a couple years ago due to not seeing the field.

Absolutely no reason for him to continue if his heart isn't in it. You can't fault him.

First of all - I barely know this guy & had to look up his info online to even have a clue. Secondly - it was mentioned that he was recovering from a knee injury. If his heart is not into football then perhaps it is best that he not risk further injury to the knee & elsewhere - especially later in life. Even if he rarely plays he can sustain injuries in practice & elsewhere.

I am guessing that lots of current players are not as gung-ho as players in the past because we hear about way too many stories about ex-NFL players with brain issues, depression, severe joint & other problems, etc, etc. If you add money problems (which happen for most ex-players) then I would also guess that lots of current players set themselves up for other careers. Perhaps this guy has very good career opp ready for him.

Please don't make the mistake of imposing fans views on players & ex-players. They live in a completely different world & there is no way that most of us can understand all of their issues.

Agree. BTW - who would have that of the three teams that you list as your favorites the Lakers are the worst of the lot (by far) - at least at this time.
