It adds to next years cap because it would force us to get a deal done with Rak that might not be in the teams best interest. Kind of like how Dallas had to over pay Romo to create cap space. At best Barnett is a one year stop gap. At worst Kehl is a three year backup.

If Barnett were that good, he wouldnt be a free agent right now. Everything still on the market is basically the last resort any way.

But you're expecting him to be a viable starter if Fletcher can't stay healthy.

Agreed. But we are looking fora backup. Not a starter. So why over extend on a guy like Barnett to play backup?? And I doubt Barnett will play special teams.

why are we so worried about a guy from the ILB position covering te's ? i like keenan but he hadnt proved a thing in that dept . back-up ilbs had 140 snaps last season

and just how do we know that the current guys on this roster cant do the job just yet ? keenan doesnt have THAT much more experience then anyone left on the roster

what he had was the potential size and athletic ability to match -up against these taller athletic te's today

plus we are looking at a cap situation that shackles us . i am not against signing a barnett but we cant do anything until we settle with carriker and cut him loose or redo wilson or rak .

i think our only real thing we can do is have a younger riley cover te's and get better play from the safety position until next season .

Wilson took a pay cut earlier this off season. So his name is effectively off the table.

I'm not happy he's gone for the season but If I could list in order the 53 man roster in order of who we could afford to lose he wouldn't be in the top 20
