...El finito, done, finished, history. Let's look at 'em:

C) Jordan Hill
PF) Pau Gasol (will be there but won't be present)
SF) World Peace
SG) Achilles
PG) Geezer Nash

They lose Earl Clark and Dwight Howard within days of each other. Plus you have no picks and nobody is coming there in 2014 to play with a bunch of washed up has beens. Nice run while it lasted, boys. Make way for the Clippers who are firmly in command in the Staples Center. Word.

The only thing that is for sure is that they will look a lot different in 2014 than they do now.

Nash is the only player under contract beyond next season, so what you are saying is false. LA is a far more attractive landing spot for 2014 free agents than Boston the way both are currently constructed. The only way Ainge can change that is by dealing some of the guys you want him to keep, or by mortgaging the future to become a 5th or 6th seed.

Hard to say what will happen at this point, but true enough the Lakers future for one more season does depend on the two aging stars of Kobe and Gasol and then everything gets blown up. I am not going to count on Dwight Howard for right now, but I will say this.

The Lakers future does look brighter then that of the Celtics - lol

Then listen to LogicMan. Of all the Celtic fans on here, he is the one who understands best how the NBA works.

Gotta love crotchrocker!! He knows his Celtics are looking at another 2 decades of irrelevance, so he will now start multiple threads and posts claiming demise of the Lakers!!

Soon, there will also be a thread proclaiming how Rajon Rondo and the D-Leaguers making up the rest of the roster will "shock the world" and win the NBA championship next season!!

Yep, the only thing, and I mean ONLY thing, the Celts can hope for this season is that the Lakers will have a worse year than they will. Won't happen. And Celts fan can watch their heads slowly explode when the Lakers make the playoffs this coming season.

This was actually a good thing for the LAKERS.

They were never going to be able to build around Dwight Howard.

I think they went through the motions and never truly were that invested in getting Howard.

I think Howard would have made them a perennial 4 seed for the next 5 years....sort of stuck in neutral.

Without Howard, LA can quickly get back to the #1/#2 seed type of team.

This frees them up to restock the cupboard in 2014.

Don't kid yourselves, if the Lakers have a ton of money to spend they will get guys.

I can easily see Lebron James as a Laker in 2014.

I agree they will be able to get guys but they problem was not that it was hard to build around Howard it is that they are incompetent in how to build a team period.

I think Kobe's long term deal and the $30M as well truly bootstrapped the Lakers. To compensate, Mitch tried to go all in, trading his best asset (altho now we know was wounded) Bynum and Picks, for Howard. I felt at the time it was the right move, but I never expected the dysfunctionality in coaching, GM decisions, and player behaviors that followed. In the end, Dwight is getting out, and the Lakers traded away what assets they had with zero to show. Somebody's head has to go. There also is no way Dantoni will remain the coach.

The Lebron to LA posters are their last hope. I can see the first one going up soon and LA fans now saying how much they like him.

Too funny

Horns, I think Lebron ends up in New York. We will see. Miami gets him for another year.

It was the right move regardless!! Even with Howard gone, Bynum has shown why getting rid of him was the right move!!

Oh goodness yes.

Lakers will be horrid this year but next year they can and most likely will aggressively attack the free agent market which could include LBJ, Bosh and quite a few other great players. With what level of competence is what I would worry about.

Kobe should take a pay cut and might not even be in the league. I believe he has said he wants to finish his career in Europe?

I outlined a team in another thread that would be pretty sick.
