Totally off topic here but the entire Tim Donaghy case was the final straw with me in regards to ESPN.

I had a subscription to ESPN The Magazine.

Tim Donaghy had been in jail a year and then was making claims that other refs were fixing games as well.

Stephen A. Smith then writes a column and accuses people of believing Donaghy because the vast majority of the NBA is black.

He then went on to say that people ignore scandals in football and baseball.

Nevermind the fact that baseball players were meeting with Congress in regards to the Mitchell Report.

Nevermind all the hell the NFL and the Patriots were catching over Spygate.

Not only was Stephen A. trolling via race baiting, he was totally and factually incorrect.

In fact, of the three scandals, the NBA caught the least amount of bad publicity.

Oh yeah. And the only guy who went to jail over the Donaghy Scandal...

was the white guy.

So, I decided if that is what ESPN is going to offer as far as sports journalism goes, I was done with them.

Cancelled my subscription and do not watch their programming ever since.

Okay, back on topic.

when you mentioned Stephen A. Smith i knew it was gonna be garbage. never DID like that guy...

LOL then look at how the Cavs and Hornets have benefitted in the lotto after LeClown left. oh but wait, that's simply coincidence...

Look at how the Bulls (the biggest market in the league if you divide NY and LA by two) happened to win the draft lottery with the worst odds in history the year the #1 prospect just happened to be a superstar from Chicago.

And, it's not exactly considered fixing games by certain people but everyone knows and has accepted that the NBA has this thing called "superstar calls" where the whistle would or would not be blown in certain situations, depending on who was fouled or committed the foul and where he sits on the ladder in regards to superstar status.

I think it sounds awful lot like a conversation on First Take.

They definitely fix the draft lottery (there's video evidence showing them making Ewing go to NY), so it isn't much of a stretch at all to think they fix games.

While I don't know if the Ewing envelope was frozen or not, I will agree with the concept that it could have been.

HOWEVER, to think the new lotto ball system is fixed is laughable.

We had this debate back on CBS.

Lets review the process. A lotto drawing type machine has balls numbered 0-9 in it blowing around randomly. All of equal size and weight.

There are 1000 combinations of 4 digit numbers randomly assigned to the teams involved on a board.

One number is drawn, 4 times, to determine the 1st 4 digit combination, which them becomes the winning number for the #1 pick.

In the room all watching are members of every team involved, a security team, and random, independent members of the media.

In all the years of this system, there has never been one accusation of any type off foul play.

You need to consider, while some teams have many more combinations then some of the other team, each of the 1000 combinations has an equal chance of being drawn first.

If they really wanted to slant thenumber 1 pick to the worst team, they could make it so that to win, you need to have 2 or 3 of your combinations be drawn.

Until they do, it will not be uncommon for low odd teams to move up in the order.

Another way games are fixed of sorts is umpires with their own strike zones.

and "expanding the strike zone" or MLBs version of the superstar treatment.

Moving the fences belongs in this discussion as well. Just the simple facts that ballparks have differing dimensions, period.

That's the room where they announce the draft picks. To the best of my knowledge (and feel free to correct me with a link if I am wrong), no media or team officials actually watch the drawing take place. All the NBA has to do is rig it in the back room and nobody would know.
