Without fouling out there would be "enforcers" like hockey, just trying to take out the other team. Your star gets all the calls; why are you complaining about the one time he didn't? Just accept it and move on. It's not like it's game 7 and they fouled him out for stepping on the court.

My proposed rule change had ZERO to do with James fouling out last game.

I have (in different conversations)said I would like that rule change a long time ago.

As far as enforcers, I'm not saying players shouldn't be ejected for flagrants or multiple technicals. I'm talking about just basic fouls.

How often does a good player pick up#2 early in the1st qtr and have to sit the remainder because of it?

In football you can get called for holding 20 times, your not thrown out of the game though.

You can foul hard every play without flagrants or technicals.

He's been whining about lebron fouling out several times a thread since the game.

Thats bullshit. I blamed James, and mostly Wade for losing that game.
I said the refs were bad, and the calls unusual in alot of cases, but they weren't the reason the Heat lost.

Well. Then you would kill your teams chances of winning if the other team kept getting 2 shots + the ball.

Maybe don't make it unlimited fouls. Make it fouls 6-8 result in 2 shots and the ball and on the 9th you are out of the game.

It would also be beneficial for OT games where player saren't given additional foul(s).

Then I stand corrected. I could have sworn it was you, but it's possible I confused you with one of the more crazy ones.

OT I would be in favor of extra fouls, and fouled out players being allowed to return. I would give 2 fouls the first overtime, then one each after that.

The rest of the time, though, no. I'm all for players playing hard and aggressive, but fouling out is a good deterrent from things getting crazy.

A penalty box like in hockey? But, not the 5-on-4 powerplay but a forced substitution for two minutes or something.

The NBA used to have a 3-for-2 rule when a team was over the limit.

That is, you would get three tries to make two free throws. So, if you missed, I think it was the second one, you would get a third shot. I believe also you had to make the first free throw in order for the 3-for-2 to come into effect.

That was a long time ago, though.

That would apply in any situation at 5 or more fouls. It wouldn't change the dynamics of a player fouling out though.

It could always be adjusted. If said player has 5 fouls, every foul he commits after that becomes a 3-for-2 for the opposing team.

-It's been better this year but better precision with the block/charge call. I still don't like it when guys slide underneath players and fall down as they're already in their shot motion coughDEREKFISHERcough.

-I'd tweak the clear path rule. I don't think its fair that players get called for clear path fouls in a scrum. The team that just had the ball stolen from them shouldn't be penalized further by a clear path foul just because the opposing player got tripped up in the scrum for the ball.

-I'd also like to see the international goal tending rule where you can touch the ball when its on the rim.
