Because I gave you a specific time frame and that time frame you cited proved Sacramento did not outdraw Seattle every year as you stated.

Which is all moot point regardless.

I would just like to know what Sacramento did to piss off the Maloof's so bad? At least up here I know what pissed Schultz off so bad that he went behind everyone's back and sold it to an outside investor, I just can't fathom what Sac town did.

Nothing. It's the other way around. The Maloofs basically suck as human beings. No one likes them. Their fortune has almost all been lost over the last few years for various reasons and they've been using the Kings to stay afloat and in the process, destroyed it. The Maloofs won't sell to the Sac group because they need all the cash they can get. They had that with the Seattle deal but the NBA won't let the franchise move.

Expansion is not a viable option for Seattle or the NBA. They like to say Sacramento "did all that was asked" well Kansas City has done all that NBA has asked and is on the wait list for an expansion team.

The facts are that Hansen and Ballmer are the epidemy of what any professional sports league wants. A precendent set that a city can have a privately funded arena regardless of what poor owner says his financial house is in. In total the entire Hansen/Ballmer deal was going to be 1.4 billion out of pocket, that is not something any business wants on the table when he goes and asks for public money.

I'd disagree there. It's exactly what fans want but not the businessmen that run NBA franchises and thus the NBA. They'd much rather have the public pay for an arena. If someone pays for an arena mostly out of pocket, it makes the others look bad and thus may make it more difficult to get arena upgrades.

I lived in Sac for awhile and the city originally voted down a new arena that was to be funded by money that needed to be spent on schools. The Maloofs have been bitches about it every since. They also have something against Kevin Johnson for making them look the certified assholes they are.

I can't figure out why David Stern hates Seattle so much.

Sure the city didn't want to pay for a new arena, but the same thing happened in Sacramento initially. If I remember correctly, Seattle legislators came back before the team left and actually voted to supply arena funding, just like in Sacramento except not even as last minute like Sacramento did, right? In other words, towards the end didn't Seattle put up a fight to keep the Sonics from leaving Seattle just like Sacramento did?

Somehow it was okay for a new owner to loot one city in bad faith, but another new owner that's straight up about it can't?

I think its actually the Maloofs he hates for being such dicks and screwing up an NBA franchise. He obviously wants to stick it to them.

The Seattle gov't treated Stern and Schultz like children and told them, initially, no to a new arena. Stern was offended, Schultz was tired of the politics so Stern pulled the team. It really is as simple as that. The biggest villain in all of this is the sack-less Schultz, but real close behind is our city gov't.

Sacramento did everything that was asked of them, at least on paper, Seattle really did nothing until it was too late.

Sacramento routinely drew more fans than Seattle when both teams were in the league, even though Seattle had a larger arena.

Negative. Sacramento's arena holds 17,317 and Key Arena holds 17,072

When you look at the stats site you put up for each season note the average for both teams when they were high. Of course Sac had higher attendance. They could hold nearly 300 more fans. They did have more sell out seasons, but as has been pointed out what the hell else is there to do in that crap hole?

The fans in sacramento do support their team, but this latest bid by the city is the first signs they truly support that team in a long time. The maloofs have been trying since 2006 to get an arena deal done. The voters rejected an attempt to build one and several other attempts have fallen through. There is still the very real chances the current promise of a new arena will fall through as well. They have a lot of things that have to go right that haven't gone right for them over the last 8 years of trying.

Seattle fans are happy for sacramento. We understand what it is like to have an arrogant fan base actually take pleasure in our misery and what its like to have the league and a total slimeball owner rip our hearts out. None of us wants to see that happen to another fan base just to correct what they did to us.

Many fans up here are totally over the NBA and their garbage. You let the guy who stole a team from Seattle head the committee to listen to the group trying to fix it? :wtf2: If that wasn't a conflict of interest I don't know what is. Stern should never plan a vacation trip up here after he retires. Bennett and Schultz can both go fuck themselves.

Doesn't help your argument. But you're right i was wrong about the capacity numbers. Sacramento draws a higher percentage and a higher total attendance.

Seattle had a higher percentage twice from 86-08. There's nothing to do in Sacramento, that's a reason to keep the Kings there. They have better fan support, at least according to attendance.

Didn't even need to actually watch your video to see it was completely WRONG.... Again you have some bogus info my friend. Before they moved into the Key in '95 they played one season in the Tacoma dome and prior to that it was 10 seasons in seattle center coliseum with a total capacity of 14,250 so the percentages of capacity were entirely wrong. Whoever made that video failed to do ANY homework and went entirely off bad numbers.

Since 1988 the kings have had the above listed capacity. The Sonics did not reach 17k until the 95/96 season.

NBA Arenas

They had the most complete list, however even they have some bad numbers as the king dome did not actually seat 40k for basketball. They never sold over 22k and often had their own artificial limits on max seats they would sell. Also, the T dome didn't sell that many either. These are just max rated numbers and do not take into account how many were actually available.

In any event, I already said the sac fans supported their team well and didn't make any kind of argument that seattle was better so you are simply pissing in the wind anyway IMO. I simply said this notion that seattle didn't support their team was false. We didn't lose the Sonics because of lack of fan support, but rather very very poor business management by Howard Schultz and a slimeball who took advantage of the idiot and stole the team.

Interesting, I definitely wasn't going to do look into this a ton. I had no idea that video was wrong. I also never tried to say that Seattle sucked and didn't support a team and shouldn't have one. My main point was that there is nothing to do in Sacramento and it helps them draw fans, which is an advantage over Seattle. If I'm "pissing in the wind" then just don't respond.
I completely understand the support the Sonic had.

Well we agree there is nothing else for them to do and I said that in my first post to you as well. It's all good man, just heard that stuff about sac vs seattle through this whole thing and many of their fans used some of the same bogus information and it got kind of old. I only know those facts are wrong because they talked about it a lot on our local radio.

Most of those stats actually came out of the garbage the oklahoma fans were spewing. That is one really bad fan base in terms of lack of class. I've even seen quit a few of their fans celebrating and dissing on seattle after this latest vote. What kind of human being do you have to be to have such hate for a city that never did anything to you? I get why seattle fans want to hate on oklahoma, but there is no reason for it to go the other way.

You are all good man. I was just clearing up the facts.

"When [the Maloofs] bought the team, they paid the valuation of $156 million and sold for a valuation of $535 million, which sets a record for an NBA team sale."

After this latest saga, Stern is the most hated man in Seattle... he has overtaken Schultz... at least for now. His opening statement about needing to hurry the press conference up so he can get to Oklahoma City for the play off game was really tasteless.

My stance has always been a hatred of Stern. Schultz was naive fan who thought his business model would work in sports. The Seattle and King County government had every right to ask the questions of Schultz that they did and Schultz cowarded into asking Stern talk on behalf.

I don't have the link but you go and watch Stern in front of Olympia, he get's picked apart. He goes from Doc to Dopey to Grumpy smurf in a 5 minute discussion. The only intelligent thing he said besides the word uh, was the Seahawks and Mariners have brand new facilities and if the Sonics don't get a brand new arena they will probably relocate. Seriously his rebuttle to what is wrong with a renovation of Key Arena was well the Seahawks and Mariners have brand new facilities.

I'm pretty sure I said this already but the Kingdome literally was falling apart. Barry Ackerley fucked up the renovation of the Coliseum to spite the NHL and the fact he got raped because Safeco Field was built on what was promised a brand new Sonics arena once they figured out what to do at the Seattle Center.

Had Schultz been able to do more than push around barista's in the business world he would've looked an seen that Safeco Field was ahead of pace to get paid off and went in front of the city and county councils in 2008 instead of Olympia in 06, he would've had the money.
