I suppose it's only a matter of time before the gun nuts start telling us how arming the teachers would have prevented this event.

What are the odds he bought that gun legally?

Probably silly to speculate, but what the hell..... If I were a betting man, I would bet that it will come out that the gun was a legal weapon registered to a parent.

IMO they should start analyzing the credit reports of these parents of these poor children.

I bet they'd find a lot of debt, which means parents with a lot of stress and probably working two jobs. Everyone wants to talk about guns, and mental health etc...but IMO the real source of all the madness is credit cards. Check it out. First CC that didn't need to be paid back in 30 days was created in 1987 by Discover. By the mid-90's the "in thing" to do was to live off of credit cards and home equity lines of credit to "keep up with the Jones's" This meant more debt = more stress = more parents away from home working to pay off mounting debts = the end of the stay at home parent = kids growing up without parents and with iphones as best friends = psychotic kids killing themselves and others.

Everyone always says "What the hell happened and when did it happen?" Just connect the dots.

No less silly than saying what gun nuts will say. Existing gun laws are barely enforced as its is.

Good for the kid, when your life is fucked up its better to shoot yourself than go nuts and kill 13 classmates. This is a prime example of responsible gun ownership.

This was a catholic school, they could simply pay down their debt by not paying the tuition instead of their cc

I have to agree.

I am not a big gun fanatic, but I feel if everyone was armed, there would be less crime in general. Granted, guns in children's hands should be minimized. Parents should be required to have a lock box or safe preventing children from getting to firearms.

If an entire neighborhood was armed, I bet you would see that neighborhood drastically lower their crime rate. Who the hell wants to break in or bother a home fully packed with firearms? I agree with the schools having firearms. I mean you can't protect everyone, but you could cut down on possible casualties. Guns are not the problem, it is the society and what they place down on what is acceptable and how they sensationalize these events. These tragic events are remembered forever, and that makes some sick kid just ballsy enough to want to go out in a blaze of glory rather than just quietly taking their own life. They figure they are goign to die anyways, why not take other with him and become famous while he is at it, to be remembered, even if in a bad way.

Correct. But criminals are chicken shit most the time, so if they know you are packing heat in your home, they are much much less likely to mess with you and your stuff in fear of getting shot and the shooting being justified.

I'm not really interested in getting in a gun argument..... Just not worth it as people get all douchey about it. I will say though that every available statistic suggests that the more guns around the more gun related injuries/deaths.

But I respect your opinion and I'll leave it at that.

I will end my side of this debate with this tab bit of information....

All you are doing by adding more gun laws is restricting the LAW ABIDING CITIZENS from being able to arm themselves. Criminals will find a way to get their hands on guns regardless, putting them at a serious advantage in a confrontation.

LAWS only apply to those willing to accept the laws and abide by them. They mean nothing to criminals who will find a way to get their hands on guns, drugs, pimping out hoes, etc. Only the law abiding citizens suffer when gun laws are tightened up, IMO.
