Texas considering selling alcohol at football, basketball and baseball games | The Daily Texan

Also,

Louisville Offering $1 Beers At Spring Game | The Big Lead

Was reading this from the first link:

“We talk about it constantly,” Dodds told The Daily Texan. “If we ever did it, we’d probably start with baseball. There’s something about it that doesn’t quite feel right, but there’s people telling me that it might be safer to serve it than not serve it. It’s an issue. I guarantee you we talk about it at almost every other staff meeting.”

I usually just sneak in a couple of mini-bottles of whiskey to Carolina Bball and baseball games. I agree that there's something lacking, when watching a baseball game without a brewski.

Oh, hell:

That could soon change. UT is considering selling alcohol at football, basketball and baseball games, according to men’s athletics director DeLoss Dodds. Texas would become the third Big 12 school to serve alcohol at football games after Iowa State and West Virginia.

 Not that I feel it's a good idea for every university - cultural factors should be taken into account.

Nebraska will never offer alcohol. Even if it's a spring game.

They need to offer 1 dollar runzas or valentinos pizza slices per ticket and then charge reg price for each extra.

They would make a killing.

Matta fact i'mma talk to them.

I'm dead set against selling booze at college football games. The few people who sneak it into the games now are not a consistent problem. But allowing tens of thousands of people to fuel their (natural) aggressions at a college football game with alcohol is a recipe for disaster. Do the games really need alcohol sales to make them better? Is easily available booze a good idea for the OU/Texas game? How about LSU games at night when football fever is sky high? There are dozens of games where the easy availability of alcohol wouldn't be a good idea. I was at a Missouri game one year when OU won in the last couple of minutes on a 70+ yard play and it was NOT good. After the game there were thousands of empty bottles all over the place. It was unbelievable that they didn't even try to control it better and the result was a nasty group of people.....pissed off.....and a lot of them drunk and starting fights, cussing like pirates, throwing stuff, etc. I saw the exact same thing at Colorado once too. Too much alcohol at college football games is not the same thing as at pro games. I'd go for selling a limited amount of beer at baseball games.
