Padres Top 20 Prospects for 2013

Baseball analyst John Sickels has rated the Padres top 20 prospects for 2013. There's not many names I haven't seen in action for my local Lake Elsinore Storm. The list is posted on Gaslamp Ball and is pretty insightful.

Does Casey Kelly look like a right-handed Barry Zito, or what?

No mention of the CF they took last year in the supplemental round is a bit surprising. The system is loaded with pitching. Liriano looks like a 5 tool RF. The Padres could probably use him right now.

Yeah. The Padres sent him to Fort Wayne after they signed him. I expect him to get better quickly. We'll see.

I think Roach is underrated. He dominated in high A & pitched well in AA before they shut him down due to the amount of innings he pitched.

The Pads really need some of the outfielders to develop into players. That's why I'm excited about Liriano. He had a really good season & finished strong in the Arizona Fall League.

His swing is too long. Strikes out too much. I don't expect much from Blanks.
