The Utes seemed to win for the first time when the clock showed no time left following an incompletion thrown by BYU's Riley Nelson.

Onto the field came the Utah students, celebrating the upset victory over their No. 25-ranked in-state rival in a game known as the Holy War.

But wait. Officials got together and ruled that one second should be put back on the clock.

Fans were shooed off the field, and BYU's Justin Sorensen attempted a 51-yard field goal that could have tied the game. The aptly named Star Lotulelei blocked the kick, and again the crowd rushed onto the field.

Hold on. BYU's J.D. Falslev had recovered the blocked kick and was trying to advance it when the fans swarmed the field. Officials called a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the home crowd, and BYU turned to another kicker, Riley Stephenson, to take a second shot at tying it, this time from just 36 yards out.

This time the kick looked like it would be good, and the BYU holder was celebrating as the ball approached the goalposts. However, at the last instant, the ball veered left, hit the upright and fell back, no good.
