Well that was disappointing. Good outing from Yu. At least I didn't spend all night watching it.

and another gentry mistake proves very costly. he needs to be smarter than that if he wants to stay in the lineup.

im starting to hate soto, no wonder he was so cheap. just another scrub catcher to replace another scrub catcher

I am with you. He was barely batting over 200 with the Cubs. He has left a ton runners on base so far in his short stint here

Can someone explain to me why he's hitting ahead of Moreland, gentry etc then?

Very frustrating to see a guy like Sota who has shown in the past to have some pop in his bat to show very little power even when he does connect.

Missed the game tonight. What was the play Gentry didn't make that ended up a triple?

Is he pressing now in the field because he's not getting the playing time ... and gets pinch hit for when he is the one who has been delivering RBI every other night?

Know Cruz walked for him in the 7th ... why the heck PH for Gentry there?

Clearly Wash thinks Soto should hit in front of "the rookies" ... Gentry (who isn't a rookie) and Olt. Mike Scosia wouldn't have Gentry and Olt hitting where Wash has them in the batting order I guarantee you that.

A Real Shame. Darvish pitched a Strong Game. Wasted another Start for the Third Time in Four Games. Offense continues to dissapoint. Soto was a Weak Hitter for the Cubs. Good Defensive Catcher. Why is He Higher in the Batting Order then a Mike Olt?

Maybe Wash should explain that as well

Because Soto is a veteran and since he is a veteran he is better than all rookies. Certainly you understand this simple premise of Washatology.

If it was Mike Scosia's line up they would be in second place three years running.

This weak hitting catcher wouldn't be as big of a problem if this line up was living up to it's billing, which it hasn't. Hard to find fault with Soto when Adrian Beltre's strike zone has it's own zip code and MY getting a ball out of the infield is cause for celebration. Most of these guys just don't have the intelligence or will power to work a pitcher and therefore become easy outs. Ian Kinsler getting tossed for arguing after watching three straight pitches that were damn near right down the middle of the plate was one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. Frustrating to watch when we are wasting good pitching efforts because you know these guys are better than this.

Normally you put someone like Gentry at 9 because of his speed so that if he gets on you have your 1 and 2 following which gives you 3 speed-burners ahead of Hamilton. Olt should have been hitting at 7 with Soto following him but he whose name can not be mentioned mucked that up

You guys should have swept this series. The Jays are simply decimated by injuries. Lawrie,Rasmus,Joey Bats,Lind Arencibia all out of the lineup. Thats not even talking about our pitching injuries.
Was nice to see the newly aquired Happ shut you guys down last night though.

Gentry's offensive prowess is not limited to being fast. His speed just makes his bat that much more dangerous. If he was a limited bat then I can see him batting 9th in front of the top of the order. However, his capacity to bring runners home ought to put him at 6 ... not 9.

My lineup for last night' game would have been ...

Kinsler 2b
Andrus SS
Hamilton LF
Beltre DH
Murphy RF
Gentry CF
Olt 3b
Young 1b
Soto C

Hey neat! Another game of falling behind early and producing absolutely no offense. One hit through 4 innings. I swear, this Rangers team is all or nothing. Either they put up an offensive barrage to make us think the bats are coming back alive, or they get completely shut down by mediocre pitching and look as if they don't care. So frustrating. The losses would be so much easier to take if they could just play good consistent baseball.

Looks like another awe- inspiring day offensively. These guys just keep making mediocre pitchers look good

And then we have to put up with Oswalts balks.
