College Station shooting

I know we have some Aggies on this board, including myself and still live in Bryan

Just making sure some people knew that a constable, a male civilian and a gunman were killed in a shootout near wellborn and george bush ave. (about a block from the campus)

2 other officers were wounded but not critically along with a female civilian

Yup been fielding questions from coworkers all day. This isn't a student or school issue right? It sounds like an eviction gone terribly wrong. Had one guy, who is a known a-hole, tell me that is why "that redneck school isn't safe".

My roommates mom lives on the same street as the shooting (she's ok), she had a police escort with her and couldn't talk much about it at the time, but I'll have the scoop later on

Dang, that's scary. I lived in the bad BAD part of Bryan the last two years down there, so I was fully expecting to hear that the shooting was at my old house. I drove by last summer when I was down there visiting and somehow the house was still standing, and the street has actually gotten worse. I didn't think it was that bad when I was there, but my wife (gf at the time) said she didn't like coming over. Cool by me, she had an awesome condo in CS. Sounds like it was close to the shooting (it was over behind-ish the Walmart on that end of town).

Yeah but we all knew that before he made that comment. It is sad when someone can make that kind of statement and it doesn't even surprise anyone.

Where in Bryan did you live?

The shooting was about 2 blocks from the corner of George Bush & Wellborn, not far from Kyle & Olsen Field

I found out today the innocent bystander killed was the husband of one of our teachers at Bryan High

She was actually driving down the street when the shots started, and was able to see the constable lying (dead), in the front yard, so she was literally right in the middle of it, I can only imagine,

the officers name is Brian Brachman, and was active in youth sports in the area, especially little league, didn't know him personally but know lots of people who did, certainly a sad day for many in the area

Whew, I'd have to pull up a map to find the "major" road. But the street name was Orman. It was just down the street from the National Guard Armory.

It was a BAD neighborhood, but the neighbors directly around us were cool. Someone had bought up most of the block and rented out the houses. So it was all college kids and then a cop that lived next door to us.
