This team just doesn't seem like they have fire.

I would have said that they looked like they needed a day off, but they just had one two days a go. They just look flat.

Wash needs to pull Lewis. He's not throwing too many bad pitches, but for whatever reason they are seeing all of his pitches very well. He can't get ANYONE in their line up out.

Just one of those games where Colby's very hittable.

Eh. Let him stay in and eat up innings. No sense in exhausting the bullpen for a game that's already lost.

I think Josh has gotten worn down by the steady diet of breaking balls he's seeing during each AB, but rather than take the slop out of the strike zone he plays right into their hands. Not very smart.

7 k's in his last 9 AB's. :confused2:

You guys hit on a lot of what is/has been ailing this team's offensive production since mid-May. Their names are Hamilton and Young. Basically, when Kinsler, Andrus, Beltre, Napoli, and/or Cruz hit, the Rangers win. Hamilton and Young have turned into almost automatic outs. I could strike out Hamilton right now. Just throw him garbage in the dirt and away and he'll swing. His selectivity at the plate is worse than Vlad's ever was. He is not a good hitter, he's just a freak athlete. His ridiculous strength and ability to adjust his hands to pitches is phenomenal. But he has no discipline and poor pitch recognition. He looks like he's just up there blindly guessing most of the time. Throw him a pitch anywhere near the strike zone and he's gonna clobber it. Throw him unhittable junk and he'll strike out. Pitchers are basically offering him the option of walking and he won't take it. Young, on the other hand, still refuses to scoot up to the plate and gives the pitcher the outside half of the plate. He used to be quick enough to extend out and hit to the opposite field. But now he's regressed into just trying to flick the bat at pitches off his front foot which mostly leads to topped weakly-hit ground outs.

It's awfully hard to put up big innings when your 3 and 5 hitters are easy outs. Days like today where 3 or 4 of the others are clicking, it can happen. But 3 or 4 guys can't be expected to do the heavy lifting every game. Rangers need more production from Hamilton, Young, and C/1B (whichever one Napoli is not playing).

What in the world has happened to Josh Hamilton? He doesn't just look like he's slumping, he looks like he has no idea what to do at the plate. Any pitcher in baseball can throw him balls outside and in the dirt and its a miserable looking strikeout. Something has got to be going on off the field. He looks like he doesn't care about baseball. I'm concerned about that guy.

Hamilton just wants to hit. That's all it comes down to. Al pretty much hit it on the head. Until he's more concerned about playing baseball than hitting it won't get any better.

I'm trying to figure out how a guy a lot of baseball people were calling the best player in the game and making Mickey mantle comparisons can drop almost 100 points off their batting average in a month. He is so frustrating to watch sometimes.
