Hey Stinky! Good to see you again! You were one of my favorite posters on ESPN. My username over there was cingram. Decided to pay homage to one of my favorite Rangers of all time with a new screen name over here. The old ESPN board is pretty much dead now.

I post some causes for concern here and within minutes I get told to STFU. Nice.

I think the day off will do them some good. 20 scheduled days in a row is brutal. The Rangers tend to go on long winning streaks when they're playing loose and having fun. They just don't seem to be playing with the same carefree confidence they did earlier this season. I think if they can just have a few guys snap out of their funks and string together 3 or 4 wins in a row, they could very well be in for another 13-3 run. This .500 stuff is killing me. I'm sure the players aren't too thrilled with it either.

On another note, can you imagine how unbeatable the Rangers would be if all 6 of their top hitters somehow got crazy locked in at the same time? I'm talking ALCS Cruz, Playoffs Napoli, Josh of 2 weeks ago, ALDS Beltre, April Michael Young, etc. Odds are extremely against it all happening at once, but it sure would be something to watch.

Cingram! Always one of my favorite posters

When did you start writing novels though?

And its true, the Rangers offense is almost completely reliant on one hitter having a really good game and its not always the same hitter

Everyone has been up and down and inconsistent and those that actually are playing well are getting inconsistent playing time

Al's notorious for being overly critical of MY, but I don't think I've known him to attack other posters.

Overly criticAL of MY, Romeo? If I was overly critical of him I would have been riding him like an old nag since his BA is so out of whack with his pay level lately. And especially since the guy whose place he takes at first base has a better batting average and more pop in his bat, but most of what I said about him was concerning his fielding which has actually been adequate lately.
I must be one of those that's caught up with the team being in first place.

I wouldn't get too offended by Al, Will. Also, no need to explain yourself. Just tell him to go fuck himself lol. We're all fairly mature here, but not all the time.

I apologize in advance for the language, WMW.

Well put, guitarmy. I have no problem with being told to fuck off and I have no problem with telling another poster to fuck off which I will do in a heart beat with editorial size rants in fucking MAY.

Dude.. I was defending you, it wasn't a dig at you. In my opinion you have been overly critical of MY in the past. That doesn't make you bad poster, and it certainly isn't the equivalent of attacking other posters. Try not being so defensive.

I also said nothing about you being critical lately.

seems like the bottom dwellers are better than the Rangers. They only won two of the three games... Goes to show you any team can win... Texas is going down the shitter in a hurry with losses like this

Shut up dude. It's may.

I think you took what I said the wrong way or maybe it didn't come off like it was supposed to. Whatever, you missed the point because I knew exactly what you were saying. I wasn't offended, felt like a bad poster or felt the need to defend myself. Moving on...And BTW, thanks

Good to see you again too jta!

Haha! The long posts are just a combination of a lot of smaller posts I probably would have written had I been around more and had the time.

Well, I do know I've seen him attack Scotsman in a few other threads and he certainly saw fit to judge me and tell me to STFU. If that's the extent of his message board d-bag act, then I apologize.

Scotsman's a great poster, but has invited some of the criticism he had received in the past. Doesn't mean we don't want him around though.

No need to apologize for any language, but you might consider actually getting to know someone before telling him to STFU.

If you don't like my "editorial size rants", just skip over them. Had you actually read my post, you would have seen that it was more about wanting the team to climb out of the funk it's been in over the last month rather than a rant where I just bash the team and say their season is over like some others do on here.

I can guarantee you that playing .500 baseball for a full month against bottom-feeding teams is frustrating to teams with serious World Series title hopes. You shouldn't act all shocked and awed that some diehard fans might be a bit frustrated too, no matter what month it is.

I'm highly critical of MY and I think most of it is deservedly so... not going to change my opinion about it,

he's a player without a position that doesn't have the bat to justify that (it would be different if he was an awesome defensive player),

and that forces the Rangers to be creative with lineups just so he can feel better about himself and feel needed

In addition he makes 13-16 million dollars, for what? a .300 average? little power and even less defensive contribution...

He carved out a nice little career simply due to health and longevity and some hitting ability, he's not a bad player but I certainly rank him as much more than above average

I did read your post and if I had known who wrote it I would have skipped over it like I did when you posted on the Disney channel and kept my comments to myself. Everybody gets frustrated, but the season is a marathon with ups and downs. No need to make the posts marathons as well. JMO
BTW, Will, feel free to talk to me directly and not about me. It comes off a bush league effort to rally support by bringing up the Scotsman. If confronting somebody with facts is attacking them then you are talking through your butt.
And about the language..it was meant as a sign of respect for WMW. I consider him a friend and the advanced apology was meant for him only.
Welcome to the board.

Welcome to the board.

So what was your user name over on ESPN, since you seem to remember me so well? Because I don't recall there being an Al Falfa over there, not among the board regulars anyway.

And for the record, I was not trying to "rally support" by bringing up your treatment of Scotsman. I was simply replying to another poster about my reasoning for saying you jump on others here. You told me to STFU within 6 posts of my joining, so I don't really see how that could be misconstrued as anything other than an attack on a new member. And if you honestly want to portray your conversations with Scotsman as just merely presenting him with facts and not jumping all over him, then you're the one talking out of his backside.

I don't expect for everyone to hold hands and get along, nor am I opposed to the occasional heated debate. But I at least treat others with some level of civility even if I don't always agree with them (as I don't with Scotsman and some others).

Anyway, we can just let this be. I have no hard feelings toward you. If you have a problem with me or my post length/topic, you can feel free to just ignore me like you apparently did on ESPN.

I remember he used to come and go on the ESPN board too. He was very critical of how the Rangers didn't spend enough for a long time. But I'll give the guy credit, he's a very passionate Rangers fan. Can't ever have enough of those.

I still see MY as a valuable player, although nowhere near what his contract suggests. He's never been a power hitter, but he's usually good for a .300 average with 10-15 HR and 70-80 RBI. Plus he can play all 4 infield positions, although not always very well. His range is limited and he definitely prefers the lazier Roger Dorn matador style of fielding as opposed to getting in front of balls. He will never be confused with Ozzie Smith or even Steve Buechele, that's for sure. But even though his overall value has dipped, I still think he is a valuable commodity for the Rangers, albeit an expensive and overpaid one.

He's normally one of the better situational/contact hitters on the team, so I would expect his average to come back up soon enough (or at least I hope so).

Agreed, I just feel any many ways there are people who are superior at every role he fills on this team nowadays, he's not worthless as he is able to rotate around in the infield

I think my beef is that he's so ingrained in people's mind as Mr. Ranger and don't you dare criticize him despite the many flaws in his game

Would I dump him in favor of just anybody? No, but would I for the right player? In a heartbeat, as I think he's very replaceable

Agreed. He's approaching Modano/Nowitzki territory in terms of being above criticism in the eyes of many DFW fans, but he hasn't quite dominated his sport like those two did. The same backlash was present for any fan who dared to criticize Modano during his last season in Dallas even though he had clearly lost a step and sometimes hurt the team.

I tend to stay silent in terms of criticizing Young because what he has meant to the franchise buys him a little more forgiveness in my book. But he is far from beyond criticism. As good as he is, he still has holes in his game and if the right deal came along, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing him traded.

I had a feeling it was you. Always a few paragraphs of well thought out analysis.

Good to see you again too.

I've had my run-ins with people on here too.

I guess it's the nature of the internet.

But, I think we have a right to criticize the team. It's not like we're bandwagon fans. I know you, JTA, myself and others have been sticking around since before the team ever got back to the post season. I think it's fair game.

Anyways, I hope they don't stay cold too long.

Summer is approaching. If we have to slump, do it during the 110 degree heat.

I worry about Harrison and Feldman with all these free passes now, because it's not gonna be any easier when the sweat is rolling down their face faster.

I actually understand why Ron Washington protects his players. But he was wrong when he said Feldman only made one bad pitch. I think he made 20 bad pitches. The 5 walks, not the home run ball was what irked me.
