For Kenny - :pizza: for Darth Bettman

For puck - Friedman nails it as usual (and how about this quote from Hughson)

4. Quote of the lockout so far: Jim Hughson on HNIC Radio last Friday. Asked if this gong show needs a mediator, he said (and I paraphrase): "Both sides need a babysitter."

Also, with the exception of I'm Bored and Coffee Talk threads, this thread is now number 4 all time in terms of posts. That's not depressing at all.

I look forward to the day I can a) unsticky and b) close this thread. I'm hoping this can happen in 2012.

Lowebellini keeping busy?!? Don't ever change Edmonton

Forget replacement players. My suggestion is an ICE GIRL LEAGUE.

Every team has Ice Girls. Lets see them lace up the skates & knock each other around for 60 minutes.

My early favorites for the Ice Girl Cup would be Anaheim, Florida & Dallas. LOL

Dallas for sure would be contenders, but if I recall correctly, the Hawks have some fine looking ice girls as well.

/and they have that gear that no other ice girls can match

Fuck the NHL. Fuck Bettman. Fuck the owners. Fuck the players. Fuck them all and their millions and millions of dollars. Greedy pieces of shit. They should all be castrated and launched into space.

Any hope of anything for today?
Because it is a late meeting my only hope is the agree to meet Tuesday.
Since the PA is setting the agenda it is going to be Fehr saying "you are real close to giving us the deal we propose. Just give us 400 mil more in year one and auto cap increases every year and we will give you 50/50 if revenues grow at record rates for 5 more years."

I liked this one.

1. So what happened at the end of the Nov. 9 bargaining session, one that necessitated a meeting the next day between Bill Daly, Steve Fehr and Kevin Westgarth to calm the waters? As talks were falling apart, there was a verbal debate between Wild owner Craig Leipold and unsigned free-agent defenceman Chris Campoli, both of whom were upset by how things were going. Concerned things were going to escalate, Bettman stepped in. Then, some words wore exchanged between him and Winnipeg Jets defenceman Ron Hainsey.

honestly, I wouldn't mind seeing things 'escalate'. Hell, I'd rent a barn to make it happen.

That pretty much sums it up all right - The league is not going to give the players $400 million more to "make them whole", but I do think they need to up their "make whole" offer. The players also need to realize that the damage done to the game pretty much will end the record growth rates the league has experienced the last couple of years.

What a mess.

The mistake is obviously the PA's negotiating committee.

They need to get Chara in there so that when things escalate he can lean ominously over Bettman and block out all of the light.

Kris Versteeg on the radio today: "Bettman and Daly are cancers that have been looting this game for far too long"
