BTW, I have a feeling Bettman is toast. Does anyone agree? This has gotten a lot of publicity and to much is "leaking" out on how many people in high places feel that Gary boy has fucked this up.

This hasn't gotten nearly as much publicity in the U.S. as it would if Disney had the T.V. Rights. Imagine if Skip Brainless were to talk about the NHL the way he talks about Tim Teblow.

Gimme a break, Dreger...

DarrenDreger: Candor and strong opinion are always welcome, however, Ian White calling Gary Bettman an "idiot" is disrespectful and requires an apology.

Did anyone see Brandon Prust's response to the above tweet...

‏BrandonPrust8 @DarrenDreger what gary bettman is doing is disrespectful n deserves n apology

DarrenDreger @BrandonPrust8. Would you call your owner an idiot? Of course not, however Bettman works for the owners. I get emotion....not disrespect.

@DarrenDreger never.. But that guy in Boston.. Yes.. Ya I got emotion too. It's called anger cause I'm not playing hockey

The vitriole isn't good for resolution... but it's deserved.

We're supposed to learn from the mistakes we make in the past. Bettman has yet to be able to get a deal done with the players before a CBA has run out during his tenure as Commissioner of the NHL. He deserves all the shit he gets from everyone.

lol - Yes I am Jimmy, I know things look grim right now, but I still think a deal is going to get done and we will see NHL hockey this season.

I agree. It needs to happen in the next 2-3 weeks though or I think it doesn't happen.

At this point, I wouldn't understand the owners losing 1 of 7 years in revenue over 1 or 2 percent. It just wouldn't make financial sense.

I hope you're right, Dash. I'm a glass half empty guy and this thing just seems so hopeless to me right now. Does anyone involved really care about hockey... not the NHL...HOCKEY....or is it just about the Benjamin's?

Just my opinion, Jimmy, but if the league gets the players to commit to 50/50 share of revenue, why should they be concerned about contracting rights (especially contract length)? Eliminate the cap circumvention contracts with the no-greater than 5% variance year-to-year (as proposed by the league), but still allow teams to sign guys to long term deals if they so desire. It's called compromise.

I am hoping that today is the day either way.

Strike a deal or end the season. Enough is enough.
