Cheap Throat: The Diary of a Locked-Out NHLer, Day 35 | The Barnstormer
(I am less convinced that it is a real NHLer, btw)
I love the boys, and we’re known for taking care of our own. But the Fehrs come from MLB. They’re fucking outsiders. They’re in a dick measuring contest with Weasel Penis (Bettman) and Bald-Face Liar (Daly). Don’t think they give much a fuck about the players.
Just stay in the KHL, you tit...
Nashville?s Kostitsyn hopes lockout wipes out NHL season - The Globe and Mail
I think it's safe to say we knew this would happen once Fehr was hired by the NHLPA. It took MLB a long time to recover. Heck, some might say they haven't recovered yet.
I totally agree and just think the only recovery might be if the teams/games aren't in New York or Boston then no one will care.....eh wait...that is what MLB/ESPN force on us.
That's what happens when you play his style of D. Hit everything in sight and dive in front of every single shot.
You wonder if we would be in the current situation if the league would have accepted a $45 million hard cap that would have remained in place for the entire length of the CBA that was proposed by the players back in 2005.
I really want to be pissed at the players, the NHLPA, and Fehr especially... but the owners just make it so damn hard.
OWNERS, GMS TALK TO PLAYERS WITHOUT TELLING NHLPA
TheFourthPeriod.com
The NHL gave permission to its owners and managerial staff, including team GMs, last week to speak with players about the ongoing CBA negotiations.
TFP has learned that the owners and staff were granted 48-hour window
According to RDS's Renaud Lavoie, who broke the news via Twitter, the NHL did not notify the NHL Players' Association of its intentions, causing a stir among the NHLPA.
"Most owners are not allowed to attend bargaining meetings," NHLPA Special Counsel Steve Fehr told TFP via email. "No owners are allowed to speak to the media about the bargaining. It is interesting that they are secretly unleashed to talk to the players about the meetings the players can attend, but the owners cannot."
During the NHL lockout, members of NHL teams are not allowed to speak with any player or discuss the lockout or negotiations publicly, without NHL approval.
More to follow.
Dirty Pool by NHL. trying to get players to sway by talking to the owners directly... it shouldnt be a bother by the fact the union is so "solid" but not telling the NHLPA they are reaching out in that manner is not really good.
the fact that tehy aren't allowed to talk to each other directly in the first place bothers me.. its an agreement between the players and the owners, yet they funnel all the discussion through dingbat 1 and dingbat 2
The NHL gave the GMs the right to answer question about the contract offered but not lobby for it. This leads me to think that there is a split in the players. Mostly about the "make them whole" part. Players want their "individual" money and if that means down the road another player takes a little less, fine. Fehr is trying to keep the money available for players not yet in the NHL or for star players. I think this may drive a wedge between Fehr and the rank and file guysits dirty pool either way. the perception just looks so bad. whomever they hired for PR really needs to be fired. if they even care that much
