That was a big kerfuffle over the Betts trade, the return. Most fans thought the Sox could have got more that Verdugo and Wong. That trade looks like a King's ransom compared. They dealt Devers to the team with arguably the worst farm in MLB. So now, it's looking like a salary dump
It’s a salary dump but also a DH making crazy money. Clubhouse issue. Report is Giants take all the money in the contract. So a trade ahead for a pricey target is not an issue

I suppose you get a low end starter and a set up guy Time will
Tell. But now Sox have a pile of money ahead to use. Just not this year

Must have transpired throughout the game/afterwards. Maybe the GIDP was a final straw, or something happened in the dugout?

Passan and Heyman are making it sound like Devers wanted out

I thought its been obvious he wante out once they asked him about playing 1B

I can't fault them for asking him after Casas' knee exploded, but yeah things really soured after that and the 3B/DH fiasco

There were rumors that the powers in Boston didn't want to sign Devers to a huge deal but gave in after Xander ignored their offer and went to San Diego. After the '18 title, it looked like the team would flourish with Betts, Zander and Devers. All gone

Helps them financially, for sure, but this is not a better baseball team than was on the field yesterday

Still have the same manager, so yeah

Can’t blame the manager for everything sorry. I’m not going to blame Boone for Rice or Dominguez base running errors. Players got to be held accountable for something

Hell no. I think this trade is horrible as far as 2025 is concerned. Their best hitters right now are Narvaez, Romy, and Toro. Bregman is out for God knows how long, and Abreu is also currently on the IL. Those three are playing well, but they aren't going to sustain their production forever. I could see the lineup becoming a real problem, especially if those three regress and the kids struggle at the plate. In a way, it almost feels like they're punting.

Not to mention there's also the question of what the Sox will even do with said freed up money.

Also, the Sox no longer have any players remaining from the 2018 team.

LOL

Who do you think's job it is to teach them?

See the Red Sox under Cora. Boneheaded fielding and baserunning has been a staple for the Sox for years now. At some point you have to pin it on Cora and the coaching staff. Cora also played a role in the Devers situation, so he can go fuck himself with a cactus.

So it’s Boone fault that Dominguez doesn’t know how many outs there are. Should he had run out there and tell him ? We need to stop acting like these players are 2 year olds

It’s not Boone fault Rice chose to take a huge secondary lead for some idiotic reason either

Remember that happening during Showalter? Torre? Girardi? Hell, Stump fucking Merrill?

I rest my case

It is absolutely Boone's fault that this team does not play good fundamental baseball. And has been. And will continue to be.
