This is the key. They now have payroll room and ton of top prospects. Expect them to make trades this July...

Even looking ahead at the upcoming free agent market, I don't find it particularly appealing at least as far as position players go. I suppose they could make a run at Tucker, but they'd also have to make room in the outfield. Bichette's star has dimmed, but I wouldn't hate him on a short term deal.

They won't use the money wisely. They will spend it on a 35+ year old pitcher coming off TJ or a over the hill outfielder

They should be focusing on pitchers. Even with Devers gone, there are logjams at most positions...

We can only hope they realize that these reclamation projects don't work. They need to go out and get another "ace-ish" (or two) SP... I don't have faith in the return of Houck, Crawford, Giolito, Buehler, Sandoval, or anyone waiting in the wings...

Funny to read how fans are turning on John Henry. After 2018, he could have had a statue of himself on Boston Harbor. How he's being hung in effigy. Fans are still bitter over the Betts trade. It seems like something drove Betts and Devers out. Not just moving them but getting shit in return. They certainly could have got more for Devers at the trade deadline.

He needs to go along with all ownership

Seems like Henry cares more about Liverpool than Boston. Liverpool just signed Florian Wirtz to a nine figure deal, then dump salary here.

Yes he is more into Liverpool than Red Sox. Just like Kraft and the Pats vs the Revolution

Sadly, Henry is a business man and is only in it for the money (remember the Marlins?)... As much as I hated Larry Luccino, he was a baseball man and kept the fans and the game in mind when making decisions...

As for Betts, we shouldn't forget the trade was contingent on taking David Price's albatross contract. There is plenty of blame to go around for Boston's current state, but a lot could be placed on the Dave Dombrowski administration. He was the opposite of Epstein/Cherington/Hoyer, et al... he sold the farm for massive contracts. Then left a mess for Chaim Bloom to clean up.

Bloom made some bad decisions (but more lack-of-decisions)...

The worst deal Craig Breslow had made was signing Alex Bregman.
