We got a catcher whose defense makes up for the bat. Need a first baseman badly perhaps Jerar will suffice. If not I hope they trade from our deep strength (pitching) to get what we lack (hitting)Really need a catcher and a first baseman
And a third baseman who can phuking SWING THE PHUKING BATReally need a catcher and a first baseman
Not really. But it’s probably close. I’d take his first half hot Bailey second half awful Bailey. But all awful Bailey isn’t really great. He’s also gonna be as close to useless as possible once the robot umps come. Would rather get rid of him now while he may have some value. We got a catcher whose defense makes up for the bat. This is what a pitching and defense team looks like, we are going to lose some games when we don't hit. Win just 56% of the time and that's 91 wins.On the plus side, Giants are winning a decent clip of baseball games with only 7 hitters.
Ok, future boy: who should we be trading for? This is what a pitching and defense team looks like, we are going to lose some games when we don't hit. Win just 56% of the time and that's 91 wins.
Yes we are doing pretty well with the pitching and defense, that's no reason to avoid upgrading the bats and first base is an easy place to do so.

My concern with Bailey is that he’s (eye test, I’ve done zero research so open to being wrong) only above average defensively. A lot of his value is framing pitches, which may not be needed at all soon. It’s not like he has Buster level GG defense (if we do not include pitch framing).Today's lineup

I am assuming #5 and #6, Chappy and Adames will begin to hit. They won't win a batting title, but they are currently way under their lifetime averages: Chappy (.240) and Adames (.246).
Chappy's projected season marks are in line with 2024 (27 HR/75 RBI in 154 games), 2025 (9 HR/25 RBI in 51 games)
Adames is severely underperforming his season marks: 2024 (32 HR/112 RBI in 161 games), 2025 (5 HR/24 RBI in 52 games which projects to 16 HR and 74 RBI)
I am willing to allow Bales to struggle at the plate as long we he plays stellar defense, which he seems to be doing.
But 1b is a freaking black hole with LWJ. A good team can't have 4 black holes in the lineup, especially at a premium position like 1b. To be fair, LWJ has hit .267 the last two weeks, but he only has 3 RBI's and 4 runs scored. That is not OK.
Now sure what the answer is, but rolling out the same old struggling lineup isn't going to cut it.
Why would the As trade Soderstrom? I would think they would want some fire power for the move to VegasTop 1B right now (.700 OPS min):
1. Freeman - doyers
2. Alonso - Mutts
3. Goldy -- Yankass
4. Torkelson - Tiggers
5. Aranda - Rays
6. Hoskins - Drunkards
7. Harper - Philth
8. Olson - Knaves
9. Busch - Chubbs
10. Soderstrom - Ass
11. Vlad - Jays
12. Naylor - Snakes
13. Schaunel - Rally Monkeys
14. Arraez - Fraudres
15. Contreras - Turds
16. Santana - Cleve
17. Wagaman - Fish
10 and 17 are probably the only two available. Wagaman isn't much of an upgrade over Schmitt.
So that leaves Soderstrom. He's 23, cost controlled for a long time, and league average over his last 500 ABs. He'll be expensive -- would you give up Bryce for him? Whiz? Tibbs? Jordan? Davidson?
Hoskins may come available. Brewers seem to cut costs even in competitive seasonsTop 1B right now (.700 OPS min):
