I just don't trust Goff. I think they got all they can out of him and he will soon revert to, well, Jared Goff. Without an established franchise QB, and a few years in Detroit is not enough of a track record, I question the Lions ability to stay at their level. Hope I'm wrong, rooting for them.
I don’t 100% trust Goff, I think he’s a good QB, but he’s prone to having bad games where he turns it over a lot - he did in the postseason against the Commanders last year and he did it in their game against the Texans in November. He’ll play several very good games in a row but then he’ll have a performance where he kind of lays an egg. But if he gets on a hot streak at the right time I could see the Lions making the Super Bowl, they have a good enough roster to do so, and people forget that Goff took the Rams to the Super Bowl. So I think the Lions are a top tier team but I understand concerns about Goff given that he can lay an egg at times.

January is a terrrible time to have a bad day, other playoff QBs tend to be more consistant. He just can't be counted on for a full run to a title.

I hear your concerns, but if he does go on one of his strong streaks in January the Lions are a Super Bowl caliber team. And overall Goff has been strong in his last 3 seasons, I mean last year he threw for over 4600 yards and for 37 TDs, and almost half of his picks came in one game - he threw 12 on the season, 5 in the one game in November against the Texans I mentioned. He was very good in 22 and 23 as well, and in 23 the Lions came very close to making the Super Bowl, losing to the Niners in the NFC Title Game.

Yeah, there is a real possibility that the Bears replace the Lions just with the coaching changes. On paper I think the Lions are stacked but we saw how bad Cousins was without KoC. Could be something similar with Goff and a new OC

I’m open to other ways to compare accuracy. What do you propose?

Does this mean you will fucking stop already? Cool. I'll close by saying few if any (not bothering to look) have agreed with you.
will I stop already? Newsflash - I have never had a conversation with myself here or anywhere. If you don't want to continue have some self control and just don't reply.

But if not capable I guess I can help you out. I do have self control so I'll let you get the last word.

I do think Goff can be a franchise QB a while longer (maybe not last year level) but could see Detroit taking a big step back.....though guess to be fair maybe if D is healthier they still find a way to win 12 or more next year.

also fair, but lesser - maybe a lot lesser - QBs IMO than Goff have had "full runs to a title". Or at least to the SB (or maybe lost, but not due to QB).

The Ravens made the SB with Trent Dilfer as their QB.

It's silly to not think the Lions could make one with Goff at the helm.

Eagles with Foles, too. Pretty sure Steelers got there with O'Donnell. Is it better to have an elite QB? Sure. But Goff good enough (and of course he has been to one).

Yep and going back even farther in history....

Brad Johnson with the Bucs and Doug Williams with the team formerly known as Doug Williams.

Texans and Broncos sound right. I still think the Ravens are the only team in the AFC that would've stood up to them but the Ravens were inconsistent all year.

Going into next year I do think the Lions have the same upside as the Eagles did last year in terms of roster. I'd probably power rank the top 5 rosters as:

1. Eagles
2. Lions
3. Ravens
4. Chiefs
5. Bills

But since the Chiefs have Mahomes...they kinda just need to keep steady and they'll be fine.
It will be interesting to see what happens to Detroit after losing both coordinators. Are they still one of the top 2 teams in the NFC or is their a hiccup. They are so young at so many spots and should see improvement just from experience and almost have top be healthier than last year, so I suspect that will offset any brain drain, but...

I think I mentioned earlier that either Detroit or Chicago should be really good. I'd expect it to be Detroit but Goff falling off with a new coach wouldn't be unheard of.

Niners were the most hurt team in football last year. They should be good. NFC is going to be interesting.

Especially since he has made it to a SB already. Any starting QB can win a SB. Football is and always will be a team game. This idea that QB A is automatically better than QB B because he won a SB is ignorant. There are a million factors that determine how good a QB is and yes winning a SB (or really playoff performance in general) is a very important one, but again, it's a team game. Using just this past year as an example, the Eagles could have won a SB with most of the starting NFL QBs. That doesn't mean Hurts wasn't good of course and it doesn't mean they would have won a SB with a different QB, but they certainly could have with the best OL and RB by a mile in the league and an elite WR plus a good WR and a really good defense. But sports are sports and it's possible that if the two QBs were switched for the SB that Hurts would have won with KC over Mahomes with Philly. Any given Sunday as they say...
