Well, the Leafs appear to be cooked. The defending champs are still the champs until someone knocks them off. Carolina should get their shot next. That will be a war, for sure.

Its not the end of the world as only Sanheim really developed under Shaw .

Ya, not the end of the world. But Risto and Seeler certainly qualify is having developed under Shaw. Albatross of a contract and journeyman 6/7 dman to legit top 4 guys. And Drysdale seemed to be heading a good direction.

But, not the end of the world. Hopefully those guys don’t regress and others (York) benefit from a different voice.

Feels like another year of “the leafs should probably blow it up” offseason on tap. But I guess we’ll see what the 3rd brings.

Well that's all in the rear view mirror now. In Danny B we trust!

If either Dallas or Florida or both win their conference finals it will be the 6th year in a row that a no tax state makes it to the cup.

Since 2020 there has been 7 out of the 10 teams in the cup were from a no tax state and we could have 2 more this year.

Something has to be done about the advantages these teams have.

Wouldn’t we need to correlate free agent signings to no tax states ? And also see how many free agents signed for less money to go to a no tax state - but then equalize for the state income tax ? The other thing that would be interesting to see is if the list of teams players will go to in limited NMC’s overwhelmingly favor no state income teams.

This is fun. Some beat writer needs to do an investigative report.

Tampa
Florida (Miami)
Dallas

Nashville
Seattle

Arguably also higher living desirability.

Yeah, abolish the income tax. Don't need it. Does nothing for me. They fund the government with printed money they pretend to give to banks.

#6 Jake O'Brien C
The Flyers strongly consider center Brady Martin and winger Porter Martone here, but O'Brien's smarts come the closest to matching Matvei Michkov's, and they bet on that pair working in sync.

#24 Jack Nesbitt C (6' 4")
In one fell swoop, the Flyers rebuild their pool's center depth. O'Brien, Jett Luchanko and Nesbitt give them their potential top three Cs of the future.

#25 Logan Hensler RHD
Hensler slides, but it ends here as the Flyers use their third pick of the first round on the 6-2, mobile puck-mover who was up and down as a freshman.

#36 William Horcroff C 6' 4"
The Flyers add more size with Horcoff, betting that a positive second half at Michigan and U18 worlds is sign of things to come. He's got pro attributes for an NHL bottom six.

#40 Ivan Ryabkin C
The Flyers can afford to take a swing with their bevy of first-round picks and they take a big one on the talent of the mercurial and frustrating Ryabkin. They've taken three Russians in the last two drafts as well, so he'll have some countrymen in the organization.

#45 Eddie Genborg LW
A true throwback Flyers type of pick, Genborg is one of the most physical players in the draft while also having a strong athletic toolkit and some offensive touch.

#48 Nathan Behm RW
Philly adds Behm, who was a riser in the first half. While he regressed a little in the second half, he's still a pro-built 6-2 winger who scored 30-plus goals in the WHL this season and makes sense for the Flyers.

I think I've moved to wanting Desnoyers at #6 now. Don't know if he'll get there though.

Pronman and Wheeler seem to really think Martone will fall. Seems unlikely to me that he makes it past SJ (Smith, Celebrini already) and Chicago (seems like a dream fit for Bedard). Hockey men are infatuated with the Tkachuks these days.

I like the sounds of the rest of that haul though. Hensler was talked about as one of the top D to start the year. Add a good amount of size, take a swing on Ryabkin. 4 Cs in the top 48 seems a bit heavy handed, but who knows. I expect them to take a goalie somewhere in there.

They would also need to put trades into the mix as players like Rantanen forced his way out of Carolina and only wanted to go to 4 teams all of which happened to be no tax states.

Is there any chance we trade up to the number 2 slot and take Misa? That would turn this draft upside down. It would cost a lot but according to the rankings he a sure fire number one center that we need badly.

I'd love it. But it's so rare these days.

Then again, successful offer sheets were too until last summer. So who knows.

According to the trade value charts, we have the assets to do this.

San Jose wants another star to pair with MC, so it might be tough to get to #2.
Chicago at #3 needs all the assets they can get, so that might be the better option, but if you miss out on Misa, kind of defeats your purpose.

I agree its Misa or trading up is not worth it.

Would you trade up to the 2 spot and we give our 6 pick and a 2027 first rounder.

This leaves us with all of our picks this year and next.

This trade works on the Perri pick calculator

If Briere does this right he could really end up with the smallest team in the entire league!

This would be tolerable if we were a super fast team. We need to get rid of York, Drysdale or Andrae as we cant have three really small defenseman on a nightly basis.
