Players were just tougher back thenHe seemed to show more pain than what we normally see when it's an Achilles. With his reaction, I thought/hoped maybe he broke something. Thought it might be like that broken foot Kevin McHale played through in the 80's playoffs.
IIRC, Ronnie Lott has his achilles tendon amputated and kept playing.Players were just tougher back then
If I had to guess, Tatum was showing both physical and mental anguish... he knew right away.He seemed to show more pain than what we normally see when it's an Achilles. Or were organizations just dumber for letting players play through significant injuries.

I’m not sure why they couldn’t announce it last night though … they most likely knew on the floor … even Brad Stevens jumped in and helped him to the wheelchair
… maybe wanted to announce ‘a full recovery is expected’ once after the surgery
it’s pretty rare though:Well I actually was joking but I’m trying to think if I remember as many Achilles injuries back then.
I think they waited after it was surgically repaired(!) … idk what that means , but they say a full recovery expectedMore likely that they were holding on to hope that it was something else. Plus, you don't want to release anything until an MRI confirms it.
it’s pretty rare though:
