Well, if our RP are getting dinged minus 13 for a blown save of 3 runs against, maybe they need a little love on the back end.

I agree with Smitty though... the free agent RP do not effect anyone else. We have five slots for them in our lineups if you want to play them.

I'd say given that 30 of the top 60 scoring pitchers are relievers despite only 1 being top 100 WAR they are very much given their due in this league. I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise.

A realistic playoff pitching situation is basically 4 starters and 5 relievers but no one is paying 25 million to a 3rd reliever like they would a 3rd starter. I think I've sufficiently beat the horse here. You all decide whatever you want to.

there is a couple things you are missing with your logic... sure, we overvalue RP... but when most of that is based on Holds and saves... what about the weeks they dont get one of those 2... then they are basically useless... RP have always been a position of inconsistency week to week...

also, again, we have identified this as a problem, i have set the dummy league for all to see... it shall be edited throughout the season and whenever suggestions are made... i dont get what you are even bitching about, when we used the same scoring for three+ seasons, and nobody has complained before...

Fantasy has nothing to do with WAR though.

SP generally start once a week. Every week isn't gonna be 15+ points. It's just math.

RP generally pitch three times per week. Giving a likely weekly scenario of 10+ points.

So, after six weeks, a reliever should be looking at a baseline of 60 points, whereas a starter would almost have to be perfect to see 90.

I actually complained about holds year 1 sir lol. You can refer back if you wish.

I think the league has evolved into most everyone using the 5 reliever system...which again does not adequately represent player value.

Appreciate you making the dummy league available for transparency

Most leagues you would stream your starters, in this league most 3s and even some 2s are punished for even respectable starts. I will say it for the 5th time now, you all can decide what you want. If you think a league with teams carried by 7th inning pitchers is the ideal scenario, then it is what it is.

Also, take into account that free agent SP are the bottom of the barrel. What do we have rostered? 100 SP?

There is no reason waivers should have a plethora of consistent SP. Nobody is dropping their SP8 for Chris Martin... for good reason.

I have three RP on my team. All closers. I'm 10-0... no teams are carried by 7th inning pitchers.

Your team has long been one of the strongest, that is not really my angle here, my roster has been decimated by injuries for 3 years running now, which is very much realistic. Organizations go through that all the time. However, even last year I was able to tread water, I started out 12 and 0 or something like that, then more injuries lol.

So results aren't really my focus here.

I've stated my case multiple times now, no point continuing

Scoring is being adjusted in next years scoring so Sp is better and Rp is not quite so much
Reality is the scoring doesnt need to matter since everyone plays to it

One of the funnest things about this league is that I get to dumpster dive for starting pitchers on the waiver wire every week.

I should be good in the future because Gannon left me with excellent SP prospects and I picked up some more. Meanwhile, I have vets that nobody wants to hold down the fort. Old man Verlander, a revitalized Tylor Megill, a regressing Ronel Blanco, the crafty Jameson Taillon, and streamer Tyler Anderson have done a decent job. Anderson has been pretty good, but with his fastball below 90 mph, I'm sure he'll get blown up at some point, so I just play him for good matchups. I've been able to drop him and pick him up multiple times because I'm the only one interested in him. LOL. I was doing that with Taillon too, but he's been so gosh darn good, including being good against tough offenses, that I think he's a hold right now. He doesn't have great stuff, but the man knows how to pitch and I had undervalued him.

My young guys who are in the bigs, Sasaki and Bello, are still works in progress.

If they pitch well for Colorado they should automatically be elected to the baseball HOF

The craziest one I can remember is Kevin Millwood. He went to Colorado after a career best season. Was one of the best pitchers in baseball. Then went to Colorado and sucked.
