Yeah but just looking around it seems most of higher priced guys are pitchers. It’s kind of like the offseason, if they are going to get a young controllable guy then they are going to have to deal one of the 4 starters (not even knowing if Gilbert or Miller will be healthy enough to trade) I mean who knows it just seems like this deadline is going to be similar to the offseason where the teams needs aren’t going to be there.

But this is also why I want them to hurry up and promote the entire Everett team cause that makes them all much closer to the big leagues which makes them most valuable trade chips
You're probably right more pitchers on the block but right team now team doesn't need a young controllable player and mangle our rotation. We have that in the minors but giving up a prospect depending on which vet batter to choose from is the better option. My whole thing is keeping our rotation in tact cause any given day this lineup can go to shit and they need to lean on the starters.

In the keeping it real category, the Ms have won the last 9 series on a row. None of those teams is currently above .500.

The last teams they played that are above .500 were the 2 just before this streak against Detroit (lost 2 of 3 at home) followed by getting swept at SF.

I do think they are improving in their approach at the plate and it is paying off.

Still, they are too thin at too many positions to seriously compete at the top of the league.

The good news is the A's are the only other AL West team above .500 right now. You don't have to be a top 5 team this year to contend for the division.

Can they continue to beat all of the mediocre to bad teams to be there at the late stages of the season? We will see.

Pleasantly surprised by the good start, but we’ve seen this before and the offensive eventually fizzles out… We knew they’d be decent with this pitching staff, in games, BUT the offense has so far done better than we expected… Hypothetically speaking let’s say the M’s are in a good position come the trading deadline, WILL they go after more offense for a shot at a World Series or do what they usually do, go cheap ? That’s the question, because this team can’t beat the top teams in a series when it counts, as it sits …

But it’s super encouraging that the bottom of the order at least are playing like MLB players. Even against crappy teams the past few years, if the starter didn’t have QS, the game was over.

17 in a row in June and then another 17 in a row in July. Thank goodness for the AS between those stints.

If Kirby and Gilbert are healthy and making their regular starts, if offense can continue to be even 80% as good as they have been the past couple weeks, and if pitching overall gets anywhere near as great as they were last year, then this team is going to contend for more than the 3rd wild card spot.

Hope to see another series win against the Jays this weekend and then we get the yanks and pads back to back.

Need to pay for the new guy. Orioles finally get Castillo.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Seattle traded Luis F. Castillo to the Baltimore Orioles in return for cash considerations, and he's not to be confused with three-time All-Star and former Cincinnati Reds hurler Luis M. Castillo. The Mariners designated Luis F. Castillo for assignment on May 6.

Just read on SI that the Blue Jays are playing a night game against the Angels tonight, and they can't use the local airport to fly up to Seattle because it doesn't do departures after 10 PM. So they'll have to drive extra to LAX.

Sounds like they won't get into Seattle until early AM hours tomorrow for the series opener against us.

I'll take any advantage we can get since we're usually the ones fucked by travel.
