So our 2023 staff ace and our 2024 staff ace are both now on the shelf. Woo so far has shown to be a fragile guy. Castillo seems to be in the downside of his career and hitchcock is still trying to establish himself. All of this leaves to believe that we will be seeing Logan Evans in the rotations soon. I don't think management was ready to call him up this soon, but, what the hell, might as well kill this kid's arm as well.

Evans was a God-awful collegiate pitcher at Pittsburgh, has improved in the minors, but his high mark for IPs in a season is only 105. I doubt if they will let him go more than 140 IPs this year and he has already logged 25.

What a shit season. No free agents like always. Play dumb baseball but win somehow. Lose an SP early. Lose a second SP a month into it. Never traded their oldest and worst SP when he had value. Damn I am too old for wait til next year.

Hold on now. This isn't all doom and gloom. The Mariners won-loss record is 19-20 in Logan's last 39 starts.

Sooooooooooooo, this tells me that the offense likes to take a day off when they know Gilbert is pitching. No more sleeping on the job for them. They are going to have to bring their A games (if they have one) when Evans pitches.

Would honestly be the most Mariners thing ever, go back to 96 ball where the offense was good but pitching was terrible. I still don’t understand how that offense didn’t win the World Series

i want to be optimistic. logan is pretty neutral and doesn't use excessive pronation or supination the way he throws.

i'm betting he's back starting mid july at the earliest. all good if we're still contending, but that still seems pretty pie in the sky to me.

Maybe. Or, maybe Castillo's ego will kick in and he will now see an opportunity to regain the 'staff ace' title and capitalize on it. Or, his talent really is fading away on the back side of his career. Because I'm an (Mariners) addict, I'll go with the latter.
