Dirty AF but like I said, look at Reaves' history - he sure seems to go after the suspects in the league like Wilson, Nurse, Marchand, Tkachuks, etc. He won't go after a Turcotte or Marner or whatever. Kind of like him in that sense, doles out justice when the league continually fails. Reminds me of Dexter (the show, not Foegele haha), the villain you root for.

And who really can fight him? Maybe a McIlrath - who somehow is back in the NHL - or Rempe but look at that video, not one Oiler went after him because they knew they would get smashed into next week.
Dexter is definitely in my top 5 shows of all time! The ending kind of sucked, then they had a later follow-up season that was OK. Now they have these prequels and hearing they are going to start the original series again. I don't get whatever channel the prequels are on to see if it's any good, but will definitely check it out once it hits Netflix.

I was late to that one, I watched the series maybe 3-4 years ago. Freaking awesome. My oldest son who's almost 15 now just finished it too, it was cool catching a few episodes with him and watching it again.

The ending did suck, I was like huh? Don't want to spoil it for anyone if they haven't watched it but when he wheels Deb out of the hospital, in a hurricane straight to his boat I rolled my eyes. Yeah, that can happen haha.

The spinoffs were OK but Original Sin is better than New Blood. Resurrection is coming out this summer, I'll watch that one too.

I think the original is on Netflix, New Blood on Max and Original Sin on Paramount +. I have all three (damn subscriptions) and got Paramount specifically to watch Original Sin in January and ended up keeping it, they have some cool stuff as well like Yellowstone and 1883.

Also if you like the True Detective series, S4 came out in January 2024. It's a trip but good, I recommend.

I think Vegas rubs any long time hockey fan the wrong way, bending the expansion rules - excuse me, changing the expansion rules - so they are competitive immediately off the bat. Meanwhile teams like CBJ, Wild, Nashville, Ottawa, etc suffered for 5+ years off the bat just trying to ice something tolerable yet in year 6 Vegas wins a Cup.

Add in the ruthless nature of their management, always shooting for (and usually getting) the shiny new toy on the market and pulling a Stone LTIR multiple years and it's easy to hate that team.

And their fans. That 2016 series was really eye-opening for me, and how intolerable they are. But if you press them, they have no understanding of how much the league changed expansion rules to help them.

Man, we're talking about shows? Should do a summer thread on those. I only watched Dexter Season 1, and it was good. I had heard it falls off the rails, so I didn't really pursue it after that. Also only did True Detective Season 1, which was awesome. But I heard nothing but bad things about Season 5, so I had been hung up. Too much other content out there I am already still trying to get caught up on.

I failed to mention their fans, they are quite the idiotic bunch. And their over the top in game Medieval Times nonsense, please just go away.

Like all shows they take lulls mid series - Dexter, Homeland, The Affair, TWD, etc - but tend to pick up. Hell on Wheels was another good one too.

S1 of True Detective was awesome, Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey killed their roles. The others were OK but S4 was the biggest trip of the all. Takes place in 24 hour darkness of Alaska and all kind of ambiguities like supernatural overtures and what not. I had to watch it twice to understand it all.

Just watched S2E1 of The Last of Us, that was good. Waiting for The Mandalorian S4 to come out but it may be a movie instead of a series.

And we should start a summer show thread, it'll help get us through the dog days of summer when the POs are over.

TA, grading out the regular season for all 32 teams. There were only a handful of As and LA got one:

Los Angeles Kings (48-25-9): A

Considering many expected the Kings to embark on a slow slide toward the mushy middle after a third straight first-round playoff exit, a season in which they tied the franchise record of 48 wins and 105 points deserves high marks. A division title or No. 1 seed would have pushed it to an A+. Their veterans continued to get the job done, their youngsters leveled up and all their additions since last spring have been key contributors. They’ve got to win in the playoffs, but the 82-game performance is a victory lap for coach Jim Hiller and much-maligned general manager Rob Blake. — Eric Stephens

I can't.
Argue with the grade much, I didn't think the kings would make the playoffs mostly because I thought other teams would be better.

Ducks fire Cronin, kind of a weird move after only two years as coach and in the middle of a rebuild. But on a Spittin Chiclets podcast a few guys were apparently not a fan of him and his Iron Mike ways so who knows. They should have fired whoever designed that ridiculous soda orange get up too, ugly as hell.

The last two Ducks coaches have been about one thing - money- and not experience (Eakins, Cronin), wonder who they'll look at now.

NHL experienced coaches aren't cheap.

This is actually a really impressive run by Winnipeg against the Blues in the first two games. They are missing Vilardi and Ehlers, which are big parts of their team. Blues missing Holloway obviously huge, but Winnipeg thriving up 2-0 is so big. Blues had been red hot. I expect a nice response from the Blue at home, but some breathing room for the Jets.

I was arguing with Jets fans last year because of how bad PLD was doing and how they felt they absolutely fleeced LA. My only quote I ever use is "No one ever doubts Vilardi's talent, but the best ability is availability, and Gabe has never played more than like 60 games". He actually did play more this year, but sure enough, right when you need him most, the Playoffs, he's not good to go. I don't want to be a hater because Vilardi really does have some "Smooth mits" as they used to say. Great hands, good size. Just MASSIVE durability issues, and I beyond curious what his market value is going forward. Jets might get the best of him if they escape this round. Have him come in super motivated for that next contract and put up some good numbers. Maybe....

Vilardi had the added benefit of the 4 nations to heal up otherwise im dubious he "breaks his record" of games played in 1 season at any level. I do think he will come back in the POs score a few points and get hurt again. I just dont see him lasting in PO hockey....until he does. The jets have a lot of talent and guys that can score so its easy to ignore the Legend being hurt....its really the best situation for him, any other team and its very noticeable when hes out.

Actually a good point on the 4 Nations. Weird how much meaningless tournament changed the whole league this season.
