I dont see us trading up at all.
but if we were to trade up for whoever was a target person. I could see maybe a couple spots like Jarntt 2nd scenario.

Cant see any scenario where we trade up to 5.
Take a 2nd either way.

First, Think about our running game the last half of the season once we ditched Zeke and gave the Carries to Rico. It wasn’t about going away from a committee it was about getting a shitty, old slow back off the field. Heck didn’t 99% of Cowboy fans know coming into the season that Zeke was going to be horrible? You can just check this board because almost all of us said he was going to suck and were pissed he was signed.

Knowing the above, What are your thoughts on this: Assume we resigned Rico and he is certainly not a great back. Now add a stud OL like Membou or whomever you like. How would our running game look then and Rico is not a stud.

I’m not saying don’t take Jeanty or even Hampton or that they wouldn’t make us a better team. I’m just saying there is more than one way to get there. Are we 100% sure Rico is better than Javonte Williams? And I do think we add a 3rd back to go with him and Sanders and maybe to be on top of the depth chart if we are lucky. I’m not sure if it will be early or late or what, but I guess I’m just in the camp that would love to add a RB but doesn’t feel like we need to force it. I actually think the need at WR is at least as big. Now damn if Jeanty drops to 12 and Burden or Egbuka drops to 44 our choices are probably easy…but…that’s probably a pipe dream.
No I would rather have a better RB than Rico.

Campbell would be a huge upgrade for our defense and I'd love it if they took him. But, I don't see this team taking him unless they are going to play more 3 LB sets because I think they like Liufau and they know Overshown gets an every down spot when healthy. Plus, everyone who has ever watched a football game seems to understand that the Cowboys run defense stinks and is holding them back in the only games that matter year after year after year, other than the people working for the Cowboys and fantasy football players. In addition I think he is going to be a much more dynamic pass rusher/blitzer than people are realizing.

I like Campbell a lot and would not mind him being drafted. Not my first choice, but I do think he is going to be a difference maker in the NFL.

I disagree with that guy saying they are ok at RB.

Not reaching at 12. I only want Jeanty or Hampton at 12. If not get one of the Ohio State backs in round 2.
It's entirely possible Hampton wouldn't be a reach on their board. He was always a late 1st/early 2nd on most early big boards after a pair of 1500+ yard seasons, and then went out and crushed the workouts, running 4.46 at 221 pounds with a 38" vertical and 10'+ broad jump. He is in the upper echelon of athletes at the position the last 20 years. The Cowboys could have him right there with Jeanty

I think Jeanty and Hampton may be the only bell cows. But there are a few others that I think may surprise.

I think Henderson and Johnson are. I think Judkins, Sampson and Harvey COULD be. Possibly. None of those guys will be there by round 3 IMO

I'm starting to think along these lines.
Am I the only one who likes Kaleb Johnson in the second? I have him the #4 RB behind the big 2 and Henderson, all 3 of whom I think go in round 1.

Hampton has move up. He is not considered a late first or second pick now.

I keep trying to talk myself into wanting Golden at #12, because he just seems like the kind of guy the team is going to pick.
Golden played 3 seasons and I know you can't go by just stats in College:
2022 Hou: 38 Rec 584 yards
2023 Hou : 38 Rec 404 yards (injury ended season a little early)
2024 Tex: 58 Rec 987 yards

Last year he had only 2 what I would call "monster stat games" (both OT games) and more than half of his games he had under 70 yards receiving. The two monster games were of course in two of the biggest games of the season which is a good thing. But for a guy with such good speed (4.29 40 at the combine) at the College level you would have expected a little more. I also feel like if we took the things Dak was really good at and the things he wasn't as great at, that hitting a guy on a pure go route or a post or even a crossing pattern when a guy is at 100% top speed fall into the not as great category. I think that is part of why we have so many curls and the such. We don't know what Schotty's offense will be but I'm just not sure Golden is a good choice for us at 12. However, we do know Schotty will likely run a lot of PAP which Dak is great at and if we do have a good running game, a guy with Golden's speed on a PAP could be a huge weapon for us.

I see this as important because I still think it's extremely likely they take WR in round 1. I just can't get beyond McMillan as the very clear #1 choice and then Burden for me and then Golden and Egbuka as kind of even and up to the beholder. I still feel like if any of Burden, Golden or Egbuka are there in the 2nd round it would just be an incredible gift for us but I think all go in the first or at the latest, the early second. So, we either take the one we like or we probably miss on all 4
