I guess it’s what we mean by “face of the league”… I think a face of the league has to have global notoriety and all-time status. There are times in NBA history when there was no “face of the league” (such as 1999-2003)… Jordan came back for the Wizards then but that wasn’t the same

Antman's game speaks for itself.....and that could have him as potentially the face of the League. His main drawback is he's a bit of an asshole. He needs to reign that in IMO.

But do average people know who they are? Largely No. Hardcore basketball fans know them completely, but that’s not what makes someone the face of anything

As good as he is, he’s a near nobody on the mainstream sports level. Most average fans of sports don’t know who he is.

When Mike retired the league struggled to find the 'next Jordan' so desperately that players such as Harold Minor were titled Baby Jordan. Kobe and Shaq when he joined the Lakers eventually became sort of the co-faces of the league. Kobe had the more spectacular plays and was more articulate and when he eventually won without Shaq, he was the face of the league.

After MJ left the Bulls, I’d argue the 2 faces of the league were Shaq & AI, then Kobe.
