And was it just me, or does it look like Tony jumped the gun in a serious way with Kensai? He is only funny because he is a walking, breathing version of Tony’s impersonation of a Chinese dude.

I like him. He has good stage presence. Golden ticket good?? Probably not. But definitely better than the typical big joke book.

Also a good interview.

White chick was a good interview.

Kensai just stood there and let Tony amuse himself.

I havent watched it much lately. Some good moments but 2 plus hours is a big commitment lol
This is the first Netflix episode, so he wanted to go big. But by doing that, the natural, live feel was lost. I think there were MAYBE 4 legit pulls the entire episode. It felt produced.

That was pretty meh. The few times when there was probably laughter I don't think the microphones picked it up very good. I had the closed captioning on and there would be times where it said [laughter] but I didn't really hear it. And how many different impersonators do you need? I didn't even understand the Elon Musk one. If that was my first time watching, I'm not even sure I'd watch another episode.

And Joe said a grand total of 4 words. He is the worst guest.

So... i was very high on Ari Matti in the beginning(of my watching)... even said in this thread that i think he has potential to be a house hold name...

then i soured on him for a while because he was getting political, and pandering to the Tony and Rogan Fanbase... Sometimes he had good take... but it was getting a little much...

Last night though, he won me back... that was the best bit he has done in a long time... and arguably the best bit seen on KT by me ever...

he still needs to learn to finish his jokes better... but damn!!! with that said, do you need a final punchline when your setup and follow through is THAT GOOD??

He also only has “1 minute” to do the bit. It would be interesting to see him do a regular set nit restricted by the KT format.

he goes well over the minute regularly... which is fine... because he should... he is not like the others... i think last night he was closer to three minutes...

Hence the quotes. And 3 minutes isn’t enough time to let a joke breathe either.

point taken...

but i always had the criticism of him that he doesnt finish his jokes well... but again, i do wonder if it matters, when everything else is so good...

Coming up with a fresh bit every week is tough. The roll of regular is supposed to essentially be an internship where the person gets regular stage time and can build a fanbase. The size of the show now makes that tough, but I like the concept.

The end of the LA days with WM, DL and Michael kinda abandoned that strategy with 3 established comics, but pretty much EVERY other regular they have ever had was a student. Ari has the years in the bank, but is 1 Estonian year = 1 US year?

i understand all that... but your response doesnt fit my post... and doesnt answer my question at all.

Unless your point is that he probably can finish his jokes if given full time to workshop his jokes and enough time to let the joke breath.

But I question even that. He is so physical that his peaks are always going to be in the bit. Very rarely finishing. Which again makes me wonder if he even needs to finish his jokes with a smash.
