Who knows what's going now but before the entire basketball world turned upside tonight, there were some rumors this afternoon that the Lakers were looking at Clint Capela. It was believed a deal could get done for salary matching and a 2nd rounder. So they could still do Rui + low salary guy and a 2nd rounder for him.

But with Luka on board now and another 1st rounder, who knows. We may move Reaves and the pick for a bigger package. Shit's crazy
Capela would be a nice fit, especially if you could get him for picks. They may want to keep Knecht simply because they will have guys getting wide open shots with Luka there. I could see LBJ really dominating for a while as well, he's never been the 2nd best offensive option on a team.

Mavs quitting on Luka just doesn’t make sense. He got them to a conference finals with a pretty crappy roster in 2022 then got them to finals with Kyrie last year. You don’t just willingly trade him for someone 6 years older than him. This only makes sense if they get a title out of this Kyrie/AD build

Lakers got Luka's medicals per trade rules but I swear Dallas must he hiding some big injury concern with Luka. Why else would you do that this soon? Like they don't even shop him. You know OKC would have given them every damn pick they had for him. You know there's other teams out there that could get a better package together. Why the fuck are you bailing on Luka for AD this soon without doing due diligence?

This makes me believe the league is rigged

For an aging player? Don’t get me wrong AD is still a beast but he is 32. Luka is 25
Ask the TWolves if they are interested in Luka for Anthony Edwards. Ask about SGA. Ask about Morant. Why go straight to a guy 6 years older? Makes no sense

So how are we grading this too soon to tell? Trading an all star for all star seems fairly even. Lakers adding a 1st round pick and Max Christie and getting bums in return outside of Luka. Christie has been solid after Deangelo Russell trade. Markief morris may just end up getting cut.

A Bogdan/Capela package would make sense depending on the cost. Cam/Sharpe? They'll find a center, definitely need a 2 now.

Not sure about that...but a few days or so ago he did say he's planning to and intends on finishing his playing career as a Laker.

*Remains to be seen.

Also... nothing is shocking anymore.

I don't think he was anticipating an AD trade though lol. Or that such a huge trade would be made without being in the loop...

Well yeah..there's that.
To be fair though...no one was.

And there's still almost a week until the trade deadline.
These next few days are gonna be pretty interesting to say the least.

I think this puts Reaves on the market potentially. Defensively, Reaves/Luka is Reaves/DLo all over again defensively.

It’s Leflop night as he’s taken over game

No, he didn’t actually.

He made 2 in the first quarter when you posted this.

3 for the entire game.

I mean, wouldn't you at least wait a year? Seriously, wtf is going on? This shit is wild. I swear this has got to be the most shocking trade in NBA history

The one thing that makes a little bit of sense to me is dealing him before he reportedly asks out insures that they will have maximum leverage.

Say what you will about this being a bad deal for Dallas…

They weren’t getting a better package from anyone else in terms of actual talent to win basketball games today.

My guess is the Lakers try and get a post that can D and board for a guy like Dalton Knecht who has shown something but will lose some minutes with both LBJ and Luka on the floor. I could see those two playing fantastic off each other, both are exceptional passers

But….

Both are super ball dominant. And while they can make shots, they are at their best when the offense runs through them.

This is not really a great fit for the Lakers.

They win the deal in terms of getting the best player. But now the roster doesn’t make sense. They have a lot of 3/4 players and just lost the 2 best defenders out of their starting lineup.
