So the final tally was 5,305 yards. Caleb passed for 3,541 yards, but that total was offset by 466 yards resulting from a league's worst 68 sacks. Ugh!!
And the defensive highlights weren't much better. We only tallied 40 sacks and perhaps worse we only had 11 INTs, which was half of our '23 total.
Lotta work ahead for our boyz.

Improving the OL is the #1 priority and you gotta add to the defense.

To put things in perspective, only 8 teams cracked the 6k mark last season - not even KC reached it! I believe the moves Poles has made in the offseason up to and including the draft, gives the Bears a realistic shot of now having a top 10 offense. This would place us very close to the 6k mark, if not surpass it altogether. For an additional perspective, I'm pretty sure most of us Bears diehards thought our offense last year was average to sub average at best. Being ranked 20th backs up this belief. And yet they managed to somehow crank out 5,495 yards with a much less talented group than they have now. So maybe it's not too farfetched to think we can hit this target.

Granted, a lot would have to go right, starting with the health of our key personnel, specifically Williams. We can't have our main bodies in the infirmary for great lengths of time. Even if everyone for the most part remains healthy, it's still a sizable leap to vault from 20th to the top 10. But I gots da faith brothers, I gots da faith!!!

Funny digging up this thread from last year by the idiot who actually thought it was possible that the Bears could reach the 6k mark in total yardage from scrimmage. But they were close!!! They only missed the mark by 1161 yards, that's just a little over 11 football fields, not to mention finishing DEAD LAST in output. Woot!!!

And it's why it could very well be ridiculous to think this will be the year it gets done. Making up 1161 yards from year-year is a hella lot to ask. Still, there are reasons for a bit of optimism. It starts with hiring one of the best offensive minds in the league as our head coach, along with his bringing on board an experienced and respected coaching staff. Then factor in that our OL has been upgraded big time, altho like pretty much everyone in here, I'd like to see greater depth. Now throw in Caleb having benefitted from a year's experience, plus surrounding him with bookoo talent at the playmaker positions. Add it all up and it's not out of the question to believe we can crack that vaunted 6k mark.
