Well the fact I see Bears, Eagles, and Rams making noise in the coaches second season and new coaches with Colts and Titans showing huge promise. I’d say Fat Pat and BQ have to deliver for me next season. The parity of NFL has created quick turnovers not 3-5 year rebuilds.

Agreed. Lions have a bad habit of keeping coaches a year longer then they should. I think BQ is more on the hotseat then MP though. I think they have 2 more years tops and if it aint working they will be gone.

re-sign Levine Toilolo, imo. He's not perfect but he did pretty damn good most of the time.

Besides, Prater will be taking over at QB by 3rd or 4th game of 2019 regular season and then it's on to ?????

LOL, Prater throws a more catch-able ball then Stafford too.

sorry man, but 2019 is a NO GO dumping Wagner. His cap hit is 11.9M and his Dead Money in 2019 would be 8.7M leaving ONLY 3.2M in cap savings. You ride his ass 1 more year and it's about 50/50 split in dead money and cap savings in 2020 with 5.8M dead money and 6.1M in cap savings.

maybe you were talking about 2020 for cutting him, idk.

post June 1st cut not included above

It was Lang I saw. I was looking at him and Lawson. No reason to keep Levy 2.0 around. Lawson is a huge liability.

Same here. I was hoping Ragnow would be the C and Glasgow the LG but it didnt pan out that way. Maybe they didnt want to overwhelm the rookie in first year.

I’d say that their intentions were LG from draft day. As he was there from day one. You might be right on C this year coming. We shall see come OTA’s

But 3 of those wins came against the Packers and Patriots.

Packers sucked balls. Doesn’t feel like anything to me this year. Rogers was there for the first one, but as season went on. You see the real team. They sucked.

The fact they got your ass smoked by two teams picking ahead them, their season sucked.

Raiola was a POS human and a weak blocker but made great line calls. That was his strength IMO.

Isn't that really all that matters? Would you rather win a super bowl or miss the playoffs with a bunch of goody two shoes?

You can also get a solid true RT mid rounds or a LT with footwork to be a swing T.

I don’t care if it’s in the draft or FA. They need a gotdang TE that can block. That’s block, so that’s not a early pick. With four picks late, that’s doable.

I like the Seattle style. 6-7 O-lineman and just smash them in the face running.

If they go under .500 next season. They should both get the axe. I agree Caldwell is too conservative to go anywhere with but he did bring the Lions winning seasons 3 out of the 4 years he was there. These guys are picking top 10 this year and have a lot of cap space. This is Quinn's 4th year I believe in building the franchise in his eyes. It's put up or shut up next season. 9-7 should be the absolute floor in my opinion.

Ebron only scored one TD today.

For those scoring at home.

Being a POS doesn’t equate to Super Bowls at all. Should I say he was a pompous asshole who sucked at his blocking but made good calls?

Team full of him goes no where near playoffs.

https://www.freep.com/story/sports/...ive-coordinators-matthew-stafford/2487594002/

Cooter’s first full year as OC, brought more of the Lions as a shotgun offense. Stafford had just 40 pass attempts in which he started under center (6.7 percent of his attempts), as compared to 160 (26.6 percent) with Lombardi as OC in 2014.

And, in 2018, run they did: The Lions rushed for at least 100 yards in seven of 16 games, and averaged 25.3 rushes a game, up from 22.7. This also led to more passes from under center from Stafford; 81 of his 555 attempts — 14.6 percent — were under center. Of course, he was also at his most effective on those throws, with a 110.5 passer rating, compared to an 86.4 rating on shotgun attempts. (In 2017, Stafford had a 125.3 rating under center and a 96.5 rating in the shotgun.) But the Lions finished just 24th in total yards, and 20th in passing yards.

seems like creating a power run game and Stafford being under center works better for him from a statistical standpoint. Now, if the O-Line can do better than average blocking in pass pro and the addition of another RB who has potential not only as a runner but receiver and can provide good pass-pro then maybe it works. Also, they need to add at least two TE's who can create separation down the seams while opening up the perimeter flanks and they must have solid hands. You might as well add a couple WR's to that list that can beat press coverage and sit down in soft zones.

They better find a damn good OC that can draw up plays that can deliver.

That's the key.
His numbers are good from under center. But the extra time it takes to drop to pass from there. The line isn't good enough to hold.

Point is.
I would take Raiola over Glasgow. I don't care if Glasgow goes to church or give to charities. He is average at best.

While Ragnow’s rookie season was far from bad, I think many had higher expectations for the man that didn’t give up a single sack in college. It was a learning experience for Ragnow, who had to face the likes of Aaron Donald and Linval Joseph in his rookie year.

Ragnow earned just a 61.9 PFF grade this year, good for just 39th among NFL guards. There’s a lot of room to grow there, but he showed enough signs of toughness and improvement to believe he could be what the Lions were hoping he’d be when they took him in the first round of the draft.

If he can improve, there’s no reason the Lions offense can’t rebound in a serious way in 2019 and take this team back to relevancy in December.

Which Lions rookie could make the biggest jump from Year 1 to Year 2?

39th is average. Mostly because like everyone has stated his pass pro was hit and miss. Actually more like miss and hit. Every time he missed, Stafford got hit.

2018 Position Breakdown: Special teams

Kicker Matt Prater connected on 28 of 32 field goals and 30 of 30 extra points to account for 114 points. It was Prater’s eighth career 100-point season. Of kickers who attempted at least 30 extra points this season, he was the only NFC kicker to not miss a single point after attempt. He continues to be one of the most reliable kickers in the NFL.

2018 Position Breakdown: Special teams

Punter Sam Martin pinned 32 punts inside of the 20-yard line, which was a personal best and among the league leaders (sixth).

After a disappointing 2017 season due to injury, Martin bounced back to record a punting average of 44.7 and a net of 39.2, but his gross average ranked 24th and the net 23rd.

The Lions were also the best team in the NFL on kickoffs in 2018. On 79 kickoffs, Detroit forced the opponent’s average drive to start at the 23.8-yard line, the best mark in the NFL. Detroit forced opponents to start their drive inside of the 20-yard-line on 15 occasions, the best in the league.

BB_72; Martin better up his game during training camp and pre-season this year, imo, or he may be a final cut. Santoso could possibly oust Martin this year.
