Maybe - but Bengals can take care of their own by winning on Sunday and then face those same Broncos....on a Saturday.

Biggest kick in the nuts for Bengals is that Broncos finish at KC, who will likely be sitting players with the #1 seed wrapped up.

Yep. Because who do the Chiefs wanna play, the Broncos in the playoffs or the Bengals. My guess is Broncos who they know, and they are tired of having to face the Bengals in the playoffs.

I will add, though, KC still plays Texans and Steelers...and if Buffalo keeps winning, that #1 still may be up for grabs...and would mean KC needing to play their starters in that final week.

Meanwhile, it could be Steelers are locked into a seed, and may decide to rest their guys in week 17 against the Bengals...

The final week of the season has the potential to be really, really interesting if things fall - even if the Bengals don't make it, there is going to be a lot of intrigue. You couldn't script it much better if you were the NFL.....(or could you? lol).

That also depends on Baltimore. Baltimore is one game back of the Steelers and they play each other this weekend. If Pittsburgh beats Baltimore, they could rest starters against us in week 17. If they lose to Baltimore, they are now battling for a home field game in the first round. There is no way we don't get their best if that is the case.

There’s not a doubt in my mind the Bengals will win the next two.

Which means playoffs on the line Week 18. In Pittsburgh. Against backups most likely.

Care to guess how that turns out?

I don't think its a given that the Chiefs rest all of their starters in Week 18, I don't think they'll play the whole game, but I think most of them will play.

Don't forget, they have the short week this week which means an extra 4 days until Week 18's game.

If they win and clinch the #1 this week, it will be on 12/25.

The divisional round games are 1/18 and 1/19, that's almost a month off with the extra 4 days.

That's a long time to not play football, even for someone like Mahomes, and lets be honest, this isn't a Chiefs offense firing on all cylinders a like a couple of years ago.

This is a great thought - because I think you are right. You want the rest...but that is a LONG ASSED time to sit. Other than a catastrophic injury - any other minor dings and such would be recovered before their 1st playoff game.

they could come out, score some points in the first quarter, and just roll over and put in the backups.

depends on whether or not the #1 seed is locked up.

Tua likely out, or at least trending that way.

Richardson declared OUT.

That's the 2 starting QB's on teams that need to lose a game...

Then the Broncos have lost 14 of 16 against KC - sitting starters or not - I'm not sure I'd chalk it up as a win.

Of course, moot point when the Bengals lay an egg today....

our fate depends on how the Chiefs want to approach a road game to Denver.

We still have to win in Pittsburgh for any of this to matter.

Something tells me we won’t be as fortunate as we were today.

Another masterclass of brain dead decision making by Zac Taylor today. They won’t be able to overcome that again.

I'll go against the grain - I didn't hate scoring the TD...at some point - you have to get a stop.

The defense IS playing better - but still needs a lot more in terms of scheme and some decision making. Despite the INT, good for Pratt, that dude is abysmal on defense. He's slow, often reads the wrong run gap, and 90% of his tackles are 9+ yards down field. Let's not even get into his inability to stay in coverage. If Oassai hadn't pressured that INT...but I digress...

Bengals live for another day because, this time, they were able to finish it off with the ball in Burrow's hands. And, that is how it should have went down before the missed FG. If I'm losing a game - I'm losing because Burrow couldn't make the play. Not relying on a journeyman kicker who hasn't exactly been good to begin with....Ball in my MVP's hands...or some dude bagging groceries in another week or 2? Hmm.....

Why is there always something odd that happens when they play Denver?
The season opener years ago with the deflection into Stokely’s hands for a TD, Christmas Eve botched snap on extra point to tie the game.

I am still shocked that Big Bad Sean Payton didn’t go for 2 at the end of the game.

Listen, Zac did a lot of dumb things last night, but kicking the FG on third down was not one of them. Especially with how bad the bengals‘ luck is. Kick it on 3rd down in case something bad happens you still have 4th down.

It comes down to the fact that York doinked it. If he tried that kick 100 more times, he would probably miss 5 and never doink another one. This wasnt like the Baltimore game attempting a really long kick. An NFL kicker is expected to make that kick, but this year has been so weird for kickers, I was not at all shocked that he missed it.

I would not at all be shocked to see Denver lose to the Chiefs, then the Bengals get killed by the Steelers and then either the Colts or Dolphins backdoor their way into the playoffs.

Awesome game but Cincy threw it away. Leaving the Broncs so much time was just stupid.

I know the kicker had the yips but up 3 with no time left would have closed the door.

Truly crazy and fun game to watch though. Congrats Broncs.

I think the big issue is that Taylor let himself get caught in the middle of two strategies. If he wanted to run clock and kick a field goal, he should have taken a knee three times after the first down. Instead, he had a strategy to let Brown run it but then tell him to get down and not score. Too much going on for a young player given those instructions. The guy has had some fumbling issues so that also brings that in play and a hold there can also make things more difficult and keep the clock stopped. If you're going to score, go ahead and score. If you're going for the field goal, then take the knee and go for the field goal. Now he has his top running back out with an injury and he basically forced himself into taking the touchdown because we had to take a timeout for the injury. A lot of Taylor's questionable decisions come when he takes these half-way approaches.

I'm waiting to hear from the "NFL is rigged" crowd. If the league is rigged, you would assume they will do everything in their power to have Burrow, Higgins, and Chase playing in the playoffs. The hype for Burrow/Allen round 1 would be much different than Nix/Allen round 1 or whoever the hell will play QB for the Colts or Dolphins.
