Interesting timing for John to call on Schefter as his mouthpiece. There has been a lot of noise this week about John's disastrous FA offseason, it seems like he's trying to change the narrative.

I'm hoping everyone sees through this brazenly transparent effort. I also don't really care what John might have been right about in 2019.

What will get him fired if he doesn't fix the o-line issues and offense continues to struggle cause of it.

Kind of weird timing for them to be sharing that. Just random. I’m cool with this being John’s last year as well. 2013/2014 was good to him, but he really hasn’t done much since then to improve the team enough to be serious contenders . Almost like he got lucky with that draft over those couple years.

I don’t see anything happening though after signing Macdonald because that’s probably bought him a few extra years.

I kind of hope it just stays bad, because that will FORCE John to make a change and address it and stop paying players at skill positions so much money while ignoring the lines. Otherwise if Abe comes back and gets back to form at the end of the season... he'll prob. try to patchwork it again by drafting a player in the middle rounds and then signing some aging vet to another cheap contract... and we'll get more of the same.

I don't see anyway it will get better. He needs an o-line guru to help him draft good o-line guy

Agreed. It was nice to see Lucas play today and not go out on a cart. Olu seemed okay as well... I think Bosa going out in the 4th really helped us though. But what's also interesting, is as soon as we started quicker/shorter passes, we moved just fine. JSN got involved, even DK on shorter routes... I don't get why Grubb seems to be trying to for a homerun ball on so many passes down. Just sit down with your crew, you have tons of talent/size/speed at WR... stop trying to do out routes 24/7.

I've been saying this forever...crossing routes gets you big net yards. 10yd comebacks nets you a first down or 2nd/3rd and 1.
I'm fine with the HR ball if we run consistently and use PA properly.

Right. And we started out the game that way jersey and it was working well. It just blows my mind we abandoned it so quick.... Hopefully Lucas will come back full time, Jerrell was matched up a couple times against Bosa which is an absolute disaster.

Yea I don't get why they abandon what works and than scramble to get going in the 4th Q.
In fairness, not many can matchup with Bosa.

Yah I don't either. I loved how they started the game. Snaps under center, playaction... we were moving just great. And then we went shotgun and chucked it outside to Barner??? WHY!? And then the snap over the head again, the penalties started... I don't understand wtf Grubb is trying to do.

As for Bosa, I think him going out allowed Seattle to win the game. I 100% understand Jerrell let alone Lucas (on a recovering injury) is not going to stop Bosa... but if Bosa stays in I have severe doubts we pull that one out. Now on the positive side, sometimes (regardless of injury) that can unite a team as young as Seattle, and get a coaching staff some confidence, so let's hope that's the case.

We don't have the team to get cute out there and Grubb needs to understand that. Go with what works and stick with it.
No doubt Bosa gone helped us. Unfortunate for them but we needed something badly to possibly kick start the rest of the season and you're right about a win like this could/should bring the locker room together.

Here's the problem, and I've fallen into the same trap myself:
Many of the plays we claim are homerun/deep route plays have both long and short routes and Geno seems to focus only on the deep portions for whole stretches of the game. If you change all of the long routes into short as well you end up bunching up the defense short and leave less open space.

I'm sure the staff points out to Geno often that he should take the under routes when open, but it looks like he just takes too long to see that the deep routes aren't going to be open on a play.

But there isn't much evidence to suggest that he does prefer to throw deep balls.

According to NFL next gen stats...

Geno is in the bottom 1/3rd of the league in average intended yards.

The reality is that the biggest problem with our offense is lack of execution on early downs. We have the WORST average 3rd and distance in the league at something like 3rd and 8. You just aren't going to succeed much if you are consistently in that range.

Geno also holds the ball longer than any other QB. He doesn't get through his reads fast enough and that adds to the problem with the line.

Also not true...

Geno is 21st in the league on time to throw.

Geno has flaws certainly. His biggest flaw is a tendency to lock onto his primary target too much and his tendency to try to make something happen when he really shouldn't. And that can be really dangerous with a porous offensive line and a weak running game.

I think you read that wrong, #1 was the shortest Time to throw, 32nd is the longest and Geno is 21st or you could say he takes the 11th most time to throw. They also list Every QB with at least 99 attempts. This puts him in the Burrow/Goff area for Time to throw and they have better Olines. Geno cant hold onto the ball like he does but worse than that is he RARELY gets off his first read because his progression is So Damn Slow!

Drew Lock really showing off tonight. I can see why you wanted him instead of Geno

Yeah he did not play well did he but he did get better late and it was still not great, then again that bad team beat us at home. But unlike the Geno supporters i know when a QB plays poorly. That 1 INT against him was a outstanding play. 21-32 65.6% 178 passing 57 rushing 235 total yards 1 TD 1 INT for not knowing you were going to play till Late Yesterday and getting in Drews words More than 0 reps for the first time in months. He battled but wasnt up to the task.

Let's also remember that he was behind Tommy Cutlets on the depth chart.

He just isn't an accurate QB. Which is arguably the most important trait for a QB. It's also one of the least likely skills for a player to develop later in their career.

That you think that Geno doesn't get criticism from just about everyone here is pretty strange. I think most of the so called Geno supporters simply see him as the best option available to the Seahawks as they make a run to get into the playoffs.

No Accuracy isnt the most important trait after a point. Thats if you are above 63% then it no longer is that big a deal. Whats the BIGGEST and MOST IMPORTANT trait is reading defenses, going through progression and limiting Turnovers. PERIOD, No IF ANDS OR BUTS about it.

QBR is still a good way to look at the QB's and Geno is below Bo Nix and 22nd in the NFL.
