I have been completely oblivious to any information about the upcoming draft but I realized that is going to be soon so I thought it was time to start talking about it.

I'm not real knowledgeable about the best collegiate and high school players so I just went on mlb.com to see what they have posted. Found this mock draft, where they have the Giants picking 2 way high school player Cam Caminiti. And in case you are wondering, yes he is Ken Caminiti's son.

I haven’t read the article (yet), but I was VERY critical of the team drafting 2-way kids the last couple years, and so far, those picks have looked to be big winners (early, of course, but Crawford and Eldridge both look very promising). Not sure I trust nepo-picks, but they do work out occasionally (Bonds, Griffey, Witt…) I guess, so…

I have not read a single word about the draft this year. I used to get so excited for the draft. Not so much anymore…

I think this reflects the board as a whole. Of course, we lost some guys who were big draft nerds.

Yeah. Losing sfgrtb was a big loss for the board. I still wonder what happened to him.

Like an earlier report I read, Bleacher Report projects the Giants to pick Cam Caminiti (edit: the article won't properly link here):

[Edit: I removed the link as it was triggering a download prompt every time I loaded this page. cal]

However, Jim Boden ranks Caminiti as the 22nd top prospect in the draft:

Meanwhile, BA has the Giants now picking up Christian Moore (saw it before the paywall came up):

USA Today has the Giants picking Vance Honeycutt:

ESPN and CBS Sports predict Nick Kurtz getting picked by the Giants:

NY Times have James Tibbs on the board for the Giants:

So, basically, no one has any idea who the Giants will take. LOL

It would seem that way. Another name I saw was a pitcher named Yesavage. the author on the MLB mock draft stated that if he was available when the Giants picked that they were likely to take him but he thought that pitcher would be snatched by another team before the Giants.

The Giants hold the 13th overall pick later today and do not pick again until the 4th round. They have one of the lower bonus pools in this year's draft at $7,566,200. They can exceed that amount by 5%, so it's closer to $7,940,000 but still on the lower side.

This cannot happen again.

I have seen a few names mentioned in relation to the Giants, though I have low confidence in any of these names…

Cam Caminiti (Ken’s cousin, not his son)
Nick Kurtz
Kash Mayfield
Carson Benge (2-way player)
Theo Gillen

I've seen a few mentions of Honeycutt and haven't seen anything about Benge.
