I'm confident those in charge wont care what irrational, emotional fans think and Day is safe for as long as he wants to be here.

an ugly, unwatchable game, sure......but essentially an exhibition game and with a 3rd string QB. Now if Noland cannot play we might be in trouble.

Finally...some sanity.

sounds good but find it hard to believe he'd guarantee either to start. If he would McCord would have stayed. would either be willing to come and fight for job?

McCords best offer was Syracuse. We've seen Howard touted as possible USC

just based on that what do you think

we don't know best offer was syracuse. Might only have been best offer who would guarantee him the starting job (which I guess means best offer.....for him).

Not sure "touted as" means much of anything. Many of these guys don't want to risk having to fight for a starting job and I agree with Day.....I would not guarantee anyone the starting QB job. Maybe OT, though.

haha...thanks. you know fans. Many just want to blame the coach when anything goes wrong. In any sport.

I've defended Ryan Day at every turn imaginable. Yesterday is a kind of day that can't happen.

no offense man but you didn't seem to even know who Cam Ward or Howard are?

They both have substantially better draft stock than Mccord.

I can appreciate that and don't mean to dismiss it, but to me, it's the only time it can happen....it's a meaningless exhibition. If this game matters, McCord and Harrison are playing.

The Iowa and Purdue games matter and cost us a season....THAT cannot happen. But did.

None taken.......but McCord is a decent college QB and likely does stay if guaranteed to start. If you are saying Day would guarantee a starting gig for either that's fine, but not sure he would nor should (especially before seeing Noland in camp).

None of this, though, is relevant when it comes to the outcome of a game that doesn't matter....at all.

I wouldn't worry about a true freshman and his playing time. We've never had a true frosh start immediately. Pryor and Miller both took a bit into the season.

I wouldn't worry......but I also would not guarantee someone he can start. It is possible Noland looks best and if he does he should play. Hell, he'd likely give Brown a chance, too, if he's healthy.

If the guy does not have the belief he can earn the job...........?

What about Devin Browns llay yesterday indicates to you he should even be on the team next year much less the starter.

I've never seen Ohio State look so bad offensively in a bowl game.

At a loss for words. Wait no I'm not. A better QB for next season would be nice.
Need to get back to getting better OLman, as well.

Because he barely played and was likely hobbled? do you really not recall all the angst toward Stroud after his first couple starts which were against middling or bad teams? Then many thinking McCord was better when he replaced Stroud for a game.

Isn't to say he can win the job but if he can't why would someone be scared to go against him and a freshman to earn the job (if that is the case)?

I don't mean to look like I'm dismissing your comments out of hand.....but my worries are more about the OL than the QB position. They'll figure it out at QB and Day will likely be a reason why.
