The NBA is trying to get viewership up during a time when it's generally quite low.

Unless you're a diehard fan of your team, people will tune in to watch the opening week and then the final race to the playoffs. Nobody really seems to give a shit about the games played in early December.
Tomorrow night at the Flint Coliseum, I Jackie Moon, am going to fight a bear.

I get it, you're upset!

Funny enough i'm willing to bet we'd be having a completely different conversation if OKC won it.

That's not it at all.

This is the equivalent of getting a spot in the playoffs for a Champions League spot. And then they still have to win one or two games to actually make it.
And kicking out a deserving team who grinded for 38 games because a team had a cool 2 or 3 weeks in august/September

They can sell me if they added a spot so hey if you win the IST and you are outside of the top 10 then you play the 10 seed for a play in spot

Not upset at all. No you don’t know me, stupid is stupid. Just a matter of time til Vince McMahon buys a piece of the league.

So your solution is a play in game for a spot in the play ins?

How often to you see a team outside of the top 10 in each division winning the cup?

Sorry no loophole for having a guy like Anthony Davis who could actually try for 10 games a year and get in. See I’m on to you.

The nba is simply doing too much for even considering this bs. There's ways to do this with removing the possibility of a shit team have a nice 2 week run in november and now we have them needing to win 1 home game on 2 tries to get in the real team

The IST covers less than 10% of the season. There is really no reason why this should be considered

Imagine a shit team who finishes 34-48 win this and not only do they make the play in but you reward them with 2 home games?

I think they should get something.

7 seed is too much.

Maybe a 9 or 10?

Think it would be pretty rare that the tourney champ isn’t already a playoff team.

I really think a movie night at Adam Silvers is enough

So what if a lower ranked team makes the playoffs?

Have you forgotten that your very own Miami Heat were the 8th seed last year and made the Finals? Do you think more people should be outraged as well that a 'lower ranked' team made it when more entertaining and better teams deserved to be there instead?

Not really a lot of difference between 8th and 10th spot

Lol why. We need to change the rules of this IST then.

500k is enough imo

While I'm not really fan of the IST, it did turn out to be a little more fun than I thought. At least the players seemed to care, so it made for better games.

Don't care for the idea of guaranteeing the winner a playoff spot though. The playoffs are the reward for a season long grind. Not a 2 week run in December.

That’s how you make it matter

I’d prefer a supplemental first round pick or an additional mid level exception

The heat didnt steal a spot from anyone. That's the difference here. They had the 7th best record in the east and was closer to the 5 seed than 9/10 seed. By opening this door to award a team outside of the top 10 because they had a cool 7 game run in november is absurd. 7 games out of 82 is nothing. Give these losers another draft pick or something

Why stop at 2 home games to get in the playoffs? Why not give them HCA throughout the playoffs?
