For sure I thought if we were making a big move we'd get a power bat....preferably who can play OF. Possible that while he's pitched well this year he just isn't viewed that highly around the league either based on injury or maybe they just feel the league will figure him out.

as mentioned and maybe I'm wrong but I really cannot recall us losing a deal when we traded a talented SP.
The sticking point was probably Civale could end up as another injury-prone pitcher that fades early in his career like other SP's Cleveland has traded over the years. He has only pitched over 100 innings once.

One thing I have learned through the Snyder experience is that will to win can only go so far.

Need to be highly competent also.
That's interesting. Not sure about highly competent......but need to be willing to hire people who are and let them do their job. Obviously that was not going to be Snyder so agree on how far his will to win could go.

I will say there are a number of Cleveland sports fans who think the Dolans are the best owners here. I'm sure many don't like Haslam and Gilbert. From what I've seen, if we only had one sports team here the Dolans would be my last choice to own it no matter the sport.

That's what I'm thinking...whatever one thinks they do seem to let SPs go at the right time.

Sure.

I guess to me that is what a highly competent owner does.

Hire good people and get out of the way of the roster management decisions. Be a fan, do everything possible to make the player experience the best it can be in terms of facilities, etc.

But there is a lot that good owners do, IMO. Organizational culture starts with them.

I think it's more the FO and coach.....but in the sense the owner has to hire those guys I agree.....and, sure, if you have an owner who is going to be out front this would be true. But I prefer an owner who will stay in the background.

Agreed.

I just don’t want to watch him on the show.

Unless the Jets go like 2-14.
I don't watch that stuff so not a problem here lol

Oh yeah, throw in Mayfield and that would be enjoyable to watch if they got punched.

I think Baker is a good option because he would kind of fill the Mariota voide on the show. Journeyman former top pick trying to revise his career
