I wouldn't go that far. They are still somewhat attached to their recent predecessors until some level of real success is attained. Paul Brown is more legend than reality at this point in terms of current impact.
As I said if one wants to attach them it's their opinion. I would never credit or blame someone for work done by someone else.

Haslam could receive overall blame for anything since 2012 as he has been here that long......but he's still the type of owner I like for a team I cheer for. IF he has a FO he trusts he lets them do their job and writes checks when asked. Now if someone does not like this FO that's another topic.

It's more about momentum and decisions at the top that ties them together. Franchises seem to repeat previous errors due to ownership and any other lingering decision-makers.

are there examples of this? I'm sure there are and as I said if you want to lump anything done under Haslam to him that is fair. But when speaking of the FO guys he has hired I would not credit nor blame them for anything someone else did.

As far as FO hires also not sure Haslam has repeated any errors. He's been pretty different and willing to try any number of "type" to lead his FO. I'd say so far the 2 regimes thought to be the most analytically driven have done the best. Not in wins-losses for the first one as their job was to tank and they could not have done it better as evidenced by what the next regime (Dorsey) walked into. This regime - while nothing special yet - has done better than any here going back to Accorsi in the late 80s, including one run by some guy named Belichick. Now, IMO, it comes down to how their QB of choice can play

No, he is Kirk Cousins.

Love is clearly Mariota.

Just with a different twist. Following a legend.

Not really Mariota then, who was fighting to stay relevant in the league (more like Baker). Love could just be the next link in the Favre/Rodgers chain, sitting and waiting for multiple seasons just like Aaron (although a different style of QB). No reason the roles all have to be the same though, and Love is a good story to follow (although that could be a distraction in year one as a starter).

Well it isn’t an exact parallel.

But it is top tier QB, middle tier QB that is somewhat polarizing and a bottom tier QB.

Doesn’t have to be a vet every time.

But I agree that a first year starter might not want that distraction.

And I promise you, Love is not going to be anywhere near that level. If he is the next link, he is the weakest link.

Yep, the whole thing is tainted until it’s not. Additionally, that Paul Brown organization is technically now in Baltimore if you work through that “family tree” so to speak.

As I said, I wouldn't disagree if you want to say entire time the owner is here is tainted. But I'm not blaming/crediting one FO (or coach) for work done by others.

I wonder if Hackett tried this out when Denver fired him and said how great he was because of how great Denver has been in the past? I mean, there have been long stretches of really good play there.....and not a crazy long time ago.

That isn’t what I was saying here. Don’t think it is what others are saying either.

The work of a coach/GM absolutely stands on its own. Nobody getting credit or blame for their predecessors.

What I am saying is that when you are a coach/GM for a franchise that has a rep as a bottom tier organization, it takes multiple years of sustained success before outsiders look at the team as anything other than what it has been in the past.

Need to win in the playoffs and then back it up with sustained annual success.

RIP Paul Reubens. Never would've guessed he was 70...
Yeah I was kinda surprised as well, they made him look young in Pee Wee’s Playhouse but he had to have been in his mid thirties by that point and that show came out in the 80s.
