Reminds me of the Nationals getting the #1 pick only twice and getting the 2 most hyped prospects ever, but not through a lottery.

All this nonsense about the draft being rigged for the Spurts.....they have lucked into some big men.

Oh well, it happens. LOL.
Exactly....they were one of the teams with the best odds and oh look the favorite won.

No magic too it. The league is corrupt. But everyone is making money so no stakeholder's care. Only the fans lose. Well and the players, but they are getting paid a pretty penny to be the consumable material in the money machine.
You're stupid

2. The lottery was an attempt to cut down on tanking. It clearly isn't working. They need to just go back to "team with the worst record picks first" and try to find another way to address tanking if they feel it's that important.
Oh, it's working.
There is little incentive to be the worst team in the league when the next two teams with terrible records have the same odds as you to get #1.
So, resetting a roster and filling it with scrubs does not even guarantee you a top 4 pick as we just witnessed last night.

There may be a sweet spot in the 4-6 spots that lets you win enough games to appease the fans while having a decent shot at getting #1.

An interesting rule would be to prevent teams from being in the lottery two years in a row, but that's a bit extreme.

I don't see much, if any evidence that it's working. Seems like the same number of teams are tanking every year. Heck, we just watched the Mavs give up being at least in the play in to tank.

But there is no guarantee that they will be rewarded.
Teams tank for different reasons other than getting #1.
Teams like DAL tank to have the best possible odds of keeping a pick, especially if it has protections.

Regardless of the individual reasons, teams are still tanking. Justifying it differently doesn't mean they're not tanking.

Interesting stat I read this morning, no one as tall as wemby has ever played 1000 games

How many of any size have actually played 1000?

Is Wemby 7'2? Probably still growing though?

Not surprising......taller players tend to have a lot of foot injuries.

There are 7' and 7'1 guys that have surpassed 1000, but the numbers drop off in terms of number of guys taller and games played thereafter.

I liked mcnutt’s list of the best 3 fits

Those would all be fun.

Althogh orlando would need a pg who could get him the damn ball

Orlando has size, they need guard play.

Windy said something mind boggling......said Vic can defend the rim and the 3 point line.....

At the same time.....LOL.

This draft reveal show would be much better if they did the draw live.

You say that, but it's not a quick process.

Fourteen ping-pong balls numbered 1 through 14 will be placed in a lottery machine. There are 1,001 possible combinations when four balls are drawn out of 14, without regard to their order of selection. Before the lottery, 1,000 of those 1,001 combinations will be assigned to the 14 participating lottery teams. The lottery machine is manufactured by the Smart Play Company, a leading manufacturer of state lottery machines throughout the United States. Smart Play also weighs, measures and certifies the ping-pong balls before the drawing.

The drawing process occurs in the following manner: All 14 balls are placed in the lottery machine and they are mixed for 20 seconds, and then the first ball is removed. The remaining balls are mixed in the lottery machine for another 10 seconds, and then the second ball is drawn. There is a 10-second mix, and then the third ball is drawn. There is a 10-second mix, and then the fourth ball is drawn. The team that has been assigned that combination will receive the No. 1 pick. The same process is repeated with the same ping-pong balls and lottery machine for the second through fourth picks.

If the same team comes up more than once, the result is discarded and another four-ball combination is selected. Also, if the one unassigned combination is drawn, the result is discarded and the balls are drawn again. The length of time the balls are mixed is monitored by a timekeeper who faces away from the machine and signals the machine operator after the appropriate amount of time has elapsed.
