My guess is that he is playing at well short of 100%

Which makes him playing shortstop so that Crawford can rest for a 2nd day in a row puzzling.

He is young with a good amount of upside, and he isn’t embarrassing himself atm (at least compared to the rest of the hacks in this lineup). I don’t see him being in any immediate danger.


At the same time, I would not be surprised to see him returned tomorrow…

Today is going to help him too. If he gets hot, then I see Bart getting optioned. But then they have to decide by May 1st what they will do with Sanchez. Barring him embarassing himself in AAA, I don't see them letting him walk. Maybe they jettison Perez? Its not like his catching reputation helped those pitchers from throwing stinkers in his games so far. Maybe they jettison Beaty? I'm not sure why he is on the roster in the first place. Maybe they realize it too and let him go when Haniger or Slater are ready.
