I challenge all of you to step away from the Jars and try this. It says to use 2 1/2 cups of water. If you use 12oz. of beer and 8oz. of water. Add some Olive Oil and Garlic.

You'll never go back to the jar if you try this...just saying.

If in a rush and buying a jar, it's typically Prego of Bertoli.

The best I've made myself came from one of Alton Brown's recipes. Sliced Roma tomatoes with a drizzle of olive oil, diced green peppers, onions, and minced garlic to go along with salt and pepper sprinkled on top of the tomatoes. Roast for a couple hours in the oven, then use a food mill over a sauce pan to remove the skins and mix it for the right consistency. Add a touch of sugar and a half cup of white wine and let summer for 20 minutes. Add your pasta.

When I used to sometimes use sauce from a jar, Newman's was my go-to.

It's just too easy to make a big ol' batch of homemade sauce and freeze some of it.

@Cobrabit - When tomatoes are in season, I sometimes do something similar to the recipe you use. I slow roast the tomatoes in the oven. I don't always, because I don't always have the time, but it's always delicious when I do.
