Exactly you can't compare hype now vs then. In fact, you can make a case that the new phenom is actually more hyped than LeBron....when he was in high school there wasn't social media and memes and TikTok highlights heck there wasn't even iPhones yet

Yeah, there just wasn't the technology. I think that guys getting hyped like they do now can actually help these guys. By the time todays players get to the NBA, they're already used to being somewhat famous.

Back then, guys didn't really get famous until at least college and most not until they go pro. Then they had to try to learn how to deal with it.

You do understand that saying he may still be a good player past his prime isn't saying he's Lebron, right?

Or have I given you too much credit?

Lamar Odom had a skillset that was very similar to Magic Johnson....

Oops, quick you better post an LOL that I said Lamar Odom is Magic Johnson.

And then he adjusted and was big part of why they won. Sorry you missed the rest of the series.

It's an 82 game season and many players sit out games for load management. Players are also fans, what do you want to bet that players who don't have games that day or whose games aren't at the same time, will be doing everything they can to be in front of a tv or in the building if possible to see it? He'll be breaking a record that most thought wouldn't be broken.

Of all of your Draymond beefs, this one is the dumbest. Something tells me that if Steph or Klay said it, you wouldn't be bitching.

Also, saying that he'd like to miss a game to see it, doesn't mean he's going to. You seem to be struggling with taking things literally. You might want to work on that.

Then you think wrong. It just usually doesn't get out.

He may not have an attitude, but if he did/does, you know who you wouldn't be hearing about it from....

Kerr, Steph, and Iggy.

You know why?

Because much like when your wife asks if those jeans make her butt look big...it's a must lie situation.

I mean, you did see what happened in Philly when Embiid and Doc were honest about Ben Simmons, right?

And just to clarify for you...I did not just say Jordan Poole is Ben Simmons or that your wife has a big butt.

LOL. Lots of twisted logic and assumptions there. A lot of reaches.

Apparently, I have given you too much credit.

I'll be sure not to make the same mistake going forward.

LOL. I gave you too much credit. I thought you were a reasonable poster. I guess I was wrong. I didn't bring up LeBron in the age argument. You did.

You brought up LeBron after I brought up that Draymond's age is a factor as to why the Warriors would be better off getting rid of him ASAP. Very disingenuous of you to now seemingly argue that I am saying that Draymond and LeBron are the same player. The point was always about aging. It's my opinion that Draymond's game will not age as well as LeBron's game. I'm sorry that was so hard for you to understand, or maybe you are pretending that you don't understand. :noidea:

Like I said, I won't make the mistake of giving you too much credit again.

Eh

Maybe it's just me but I definitely feel like the Grant Hills of the world came into the nba more famous than even a Kobe or KG. Or even much more recently a Zion.

Lebron is an outlier and if VW stays on TV so will he be. But to me it's in his best Interest to sit.

The VW phenomenon is so striking and I experienced it yesterday in a bar I frequent. Most of those folks aren't huge hoops fans and people were stopping and watching him play because his size and skill level is so wtf

Okoro has to prove he is starter worthy at this point but I wouldn't be surprised if he started if LeVert doesn't workout. Okoro needs to hit open shots to be worthy of that starting spot or they just give him limited minutes but start him.
I start Okoro regardless. You need a perimeter defender in the group. Mobley is a plus. Allen erases mistakes. One more on the ball defender to help Mitchell and DG would be ideal in my opinion. Bring LaVert off the bench to dominate 2nd units.

Actually watching Victor W....if he stays healthy he's a lock for top 25 all time player. And I don't think that's an overreaction.
That’s a big if though. He’s freakishly tall. The injury history on guys like that doesn’t bode well.

You have to compare with the time frame. Lebron vs Melo was televised, that really wasn’t a thing A high school athlete was on the cover of SI, wasn’t a thing. Every up and coming athlete is talked about now for the most part but there is a big spotlight on VW, not even close to the level of Lebron though.

I went to tour St V’s when I was in 7th grade and he was sitting in the bleachers watching Men in Black on his portable player. There were 500+ people just sitting in the stands with him watching it too. He was acting like he was there just by himself or with a friend laughing and shit. He was literally treated like he was a god, I’ve never seen anything like it before.

Yeah it is hard to compare to an athlete today but the amount of hype over Lebron will never be duplicated, no chance

I agree but if he can’t hit open shots his balue is greatly decreased. With DG, DM and Mobley that SF will get a lot of looks. I like Dean Wade in that spot but we will see how much okoro improved his shooting

For guys like Okoro it’s all about the willingness. If he only makes 33% that’s not the end of the world if he does work at the other end. But he needs to take 4-5 long balls a game to help space the floor. Reps will make him better and maybe he gets to 35-36% by season’s end.

A big part of Grant Hill's fame was because of who his Dad was.

I wouldn't say never...but it's going to be hard to beat the Lebron hype.
