I guess a good way of looking at it. If you trade a ton of prospects for Soto and don't resign him, you can still get a haul in a couple years for him.

I mean I dont mind selling high on the players they dealt. They still aren’t there, even if they are close to the race. Mancini is not that good. Lopez could very well be a one hit wonder, he was awful his whole career.

The Twins need a BP guy.

Twins acquired RHP Jorge López from the Orioles for RHP's Yennier Canó and Juan Nuñez and LHP's Cade Povich and Juan Rojas.

The deal is official. López, who has one year of team control remaining, will augment the Twins' bullpen as they look to make a playoff push in the AL Central over the final two months of the 2022 campaign. He figures to be in the mix for saves right away. The 29-year-old right-hander has converted 19 of his 23 save opportunities this season to go along with a microscopic 1.68 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 54/17 K/BB ratio across 48 1/3 innings (44 appearances).

Heyman reporting Soto to SD is done
Soto, Tatis and Machado.

They need a couple titles for this to be a success imo but one will do. Interested to see if they would sign him long-term

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Padres are acquiring Juan Soto and Josh Bell from the Nationals for C.J. Abrams, Robert Hassell III, James Wood and Jarlin Susana.

It's potentially one of the most monumental trades in baseball history as Soto will team up with Padres franchise cornerstone Fernando Tatis Jr. to anchor San Diego's lineup for at least the next two-plus seasons before reaching free agency at the end of the 2024 campaign. The 23-year-old offensive force has already established himself as a generational slugger with a sublime .291/.427/.538 batting line with 119 home runs and 38 steals in 565 games since 2018. He leads the majors in walks with an astounding 91 free passes this season, in addition to racking up 21 home runs and six steals in 436 plate appearances. This is the definition of a historic trade.
